Quote of the season right there

I was gonna mention what a ridiculous statement that is so I'm glad someone else has pointed it out.Quote of the season right there

I couldn't afford them mate
Just pointing out to Astro that money means **** all. You ended up having to pay big for a CB and Keeper but have dropped lucky with a RB from your academy.
The other CB was a punt that worked out really well for £0 and the LB a shrewd buy before anyone else stepped in.
I am not a great believer in the myth that some mangers coach a player to be better, the team yes but not a player.
That's a spectacularly daft statement.
Just because you can spend a lot and get a turkey doesn't mean money doesn't matter. With enough of it you can keep buying turkeys until you get a...a erm whatever you get that isn't one.
You say astro should get out more, but perhaps you should look a little further than your team's (and ours) privileged position and see how some less favoured clubs feel when they see a billion-pound squad struggling with a couple of injuries.
Take a look a little further down the league. While there's still some beneath you.![]()

I'd like to see title number 14 before I pop me clogs.

Excellent point
oh, that wasn’t Fergie coaching them was it. It was a structured and driven process to find the best young talent through a system. Then when deemed good enough they were promoted and then under the wing of his staff. Can’t think of another bunch that have had such an impact. Liverpool had a few around that time (McManaman, Flowler. Errr) but nobody recreated that hit rate.

Is that a compliment to Liverpool?![]()
Ye of Little faith ..this mountain shall be removedI'd like to think I've got a good 30 years to wait still, I hope

They were good players, couldn't think of others that may have come through at the same time. But sure it was the youth system, not the manager that was responsible for them being good enough.

Partly true, I think. Obviously they have talent in the first place or they wouldn't be there, and the youth system develops that talent - but many promising young players fail to make the grade at senior level. There many different reasons for that of course, but their abilities still need nurturing by the senior coaching staff to help them become strong mature players. They were good players, couldn't think of others that may have come through at the same time. But sure it was the youth system, not the manager that was responsible for them being good enough.

Both originally Evertonians an'all.
