I was gonna mention what a ridiculous statement that is so I'm glad someone else has pointed it out. Ronaldo never improved under fergie.
oh, that wasn’t Fergie coaching them was it. It was a structured and driven process to find the best young talent through a system. Then when deemed good enough they were promoted and then under the wing of his staff. Can’t think of another bunch that have had such an impact. Liverpool had a few around that time (McManaman, Flowler. Errr) but nobody recreated that hit rate.
They were good players, couldn't think of others that may have come through at the same time. But sure it was the youth system, not the manager that was responsible for them being good enough.
Partly true, I think. Obviously they have talent in the first place or they wouldn't be there, and the youth system develops that talent - but many promising young players fail to make the grade at senior level. There many different reasons for that of course, but their abilities still need nurturing by the senior coaching staff to help them become strong mature players. It's a problem with a lot of young lads that they think they're it by the time they're 19 or 20 if they're in a first team. They often go chasing moves to bigger clubs when they're still not ready for it.
