Dirty little scumbag! All game after a bit of meat off one our players, Rosenoir had him all game. S**t player! Chester is lucky to finish the game!
I didn't see the tackle, I'm assuming it was one of those two-footed dropkicks for it to warrant a red. What happened with Brady towards the end when the Portsmouth player got a yellow? It was right in front of me but I didn't see anything, Brady looked fuming.
After ball had gone Ben Haim just barged into him with his arm raised, any higher than it was it would of being a straight red.... however doubt it was anymore than a yellow.
Whooh.....Lets be fair and give some balance. Nigel Pearson speaking on Blunderside said there was nothing in the tackle. Also Jimmy Chester said the red card was quote: "harsh"
I listened to the match on Hull radio - both your commentators were surprised at the red and said it was very harsh and more so as none of the Hull players were calling for anything.
Chester and Varney had been having a bit of a tussle for about 20 minutes before the incident. They were a big side that tried to intimidate our players and Chester stood his ground. He knew he was not getting anywehere with Chester and just before had shoved Rosey for no reason, he lost his patience and lunged two footed into the tackle. It was sufficient for the ref who had lived up to his statistics of being prudent with cards prior to this when there could easily have been several bookings for tackles and general stroppy behaviour. Portsmouth were a badly disciplined side all day which ultimately cost them.
I've watched the incident again, from the camera angle I've seen it looked more like a yellow, it was definitely a stupid tackle and could have had far worse consequences. The ref was immediately next to the incident and had a better view than you get from the camera's, so he might have made the right decision, though to be fair, he was a **** ref.
This is Dave Burns and Peter Swan you are talking about. They are the Dumb and Dumber of the football world.
From where we were sat in E3, couldn't see the incident, we were all like thinking had a City player been sent off, no-one was sure, it all seemed to happen so fast
Liam Rosie started to walk to the tunnel. I turned around to my mate and said something on the lines of: "that referee chappie has sent our Liam off....the bar steward..." Liam stops on the by line and starts chin wagging with NP....Confusion reins for 20 seconds then the culprit emerges from the pack and disappears down the tunnel. Liam Rosie has a swig of duice from a bottle and throws it to Shakie...Game on
I wouldn't go that far. It was maybe a little harsh but the referee went by the book - a two footed challenge which could have ended in much worse consequences for Chester was rewarded with a red card. Simple as.
