Coal in the US is on it's knees. US can't shut them down quick enough, despite trumps claims

I have no problem with the message, I just wory about the way she is being used at such a young age.
She is not bringing any new points to the situation, she is just repeating what has been said a thousand times before over the last few years but people are making use of the emotional pull of the young. It's wrong and you should know that.

We are very close to hydrogen powered cargo ships and shorthaul electric passenger planes.
The domestic home is moving towards having solar with storage, meaning the loss of a substation wold only be a problem if it's out for a significant time.

I get very tired of fairy tales to scare people away from reducing carbon emmisions. It does not require everything to stop using the combustion engine, it will still be perfectly reasonable to have some bio fuels where electric/hydrogen isnt practical.

I mentioned on another thread that new proposed coal stations in china are almost non existent, problem is those already being built and already in service have lifetimes of up to 50 years

Things will change, they have to. The problem is it will take time and having some 16yo screaming "how dare you" and demanding action now is not helping. Has nobody noticed that most governments are pushing renewable energy production and reductions in emissions, do people not realise that the information Greta is imparting has come from the IPCC which was set up by the UN.
Our lives/world is set up to use fossil fuels and has been since man lit the first fire, this is going to take a while to change.

Think of the poor African children in the cobalt mines gathering material for batteries next time you drive your electric car :emoticon-0105-wink:

Which is why the latest batteries are almost cobalt free.

What is your issue with scienists reporting through the UN?

So we are doing something about it then?
That's a relief, I thought only Greta knew about the problem :emoticon-0105-wink:

Again, I have no problem at all with that, it's what they were set up to do.
I just wonder why Greta has to go to the UN to convey their findings.

Emotional world wide use of a young girl who shouldn't be having her childhood stolen from her.

Having the technology and governments working to make it mainstream are two very different arguments.

She's having a wider experience during her childhood than most parents could possibly dream of. It's clearly something she feels passionate about and wants to do.

People use kids to promote allsorts of things...they belong on planet Earth too and sometimes some kids have more sense than some adults...I reckon she's got more grey matter than Constable for a start.

Many have admitted that they don't care about the environment...that's fine...**** off and let others do what they think is best innit.

I don't for one minute believe ANY of you 'care' about her welfare...she probably just pricks a few of yours consciousness so like you tell your own kids to stfu when they speak 'out of turn' and make you feel uncomfortable...you're doing the same with her...but you can only do so much over a screen

Granted she looks like a psycho bitch and I reckon she's a right **** amongst other children...got that Damien stare about her...but nevertheless...let her crack on...ignore her if you think she's chatting **** but don't cry outrage on behalf of ****ing Politicians

Lol you guise make me laugh

    Off to roll a spliff

I appear to be missing the indignation for 16 year old swimmers and gymnasts who've given up their childhood to be top of their sport.

I tell you what steals young girls childhoods...when people let them dress like slutty teens and encourage them to take the likes of Little Mix as "innocent" role models...not someone who is talking about the future of our planet with adults that have clout.

Don't any of us real talk with their kids ever? That's all it is...some real talk.
