I know what they said after the game, I fully understand the officials according to the laws were correct in their decision.

    I'm asking Clifton.

The ref made the correct decision according to the rule. The rule is an ass. Moore has to attempt to play it, he couldn’t take the risk even if he thought the player was offside, therefore the offside player , and he was offside at that point, influenced Moore’s action, yet he’s not deemed offside once Moore touched it, like I said the rules an ass and needs changing.

Yes If he was aware of what was occurring he leaves it alone. If he was in doubt he heads it clear but on this occasion the player makes an error.

That’s a bit harsh , he was in doubt so had to attempt to head it clear, he wasn’t able to head it clear because it was weighted to find a player that was behind him , therefore he just managed to glance it into the path of the player. It’s a stupid rule. Once the ball is played directly to someone in an offside position it should be offside, the game is becoming unnecessarily complicated, there’s no need for it.

It is the odd occasion when the player makes an error. His body position was wrong and his footwork was wrong which is why the player mistimes his header. The rule is not particular complicated and its been in place for a significant period. Teams understand the pros and cons and you adapt to them.

I understand what you’re saying, but still think it complicates things unnecessarily, once the ball is played forward if the player the ball is played to is in an offside position he should be offside, the whistle should go straight away , all this different phase malarkey is daft imho

Yeah, but I doubt that either Moore, Assombalonga or the Lino realised that Assombalonga was offside for the initial pass forward. Moore knew Assombalonga was there and had to try to prevent the ball from reaching him - unfortunately heading the ball into his path. I suspect that if Moore had missed the ball completely then the goal would still have been given - the officials simply didn’t spot the original offside.

I played in defence most of my playing career, I know the offside law has changed (for the worse I may add) but when Moore attempted to head the ball clear he wasn't to know that the attacking player was offside, I think it's just instinct to head the ball clear unfortunately for him this new stupid law came into effect, even some of the commentators didn't know the new rule.

I too was a defender and completely agree with AD - a ridiculous rule.
It's come up with those who played on paper not grass.

    'Instinct' - Spot on.

The law silly or not has not just come into place. It has been in place for seasons. Teams even at grass roots level understand it. It is with respect a basic. Its part of defensive training continuums of look, position, and if required technique, skill, look, repeat … On this occasion the player made an error where his footwork and body position affected his technique and skill - At one point the defenders body shape is back to the player rather than side on so he cannot check his shoulders or see the player from his peripheral vision, his footwork sees feet crossing = he cannot jump easily.

That commentators do not know rules .. Hardly surprising when for years Match of the day pundits did not know the handball rule. That many fans seem unaware of this rule may indicate how well trained and versed players are that these errors by professional players are so rare

City were playing really high. Not sure its wise to give a Assombalonga 40 yards of space to run into.

This summed it up a tweet on Twitter :emoticon-0148-yes:

I voted Leave because I don't want my life or my country to be subservient to a bunch of old guys in Belgium who we did not elect and cannot sack.
