FLT;

Did they get the W - 9 system for GCSE, then A B C... for A levels.

Seems strange to change one, but no the other?

My lad was the first year of half change, so he has GCSE Maths at grade 9 and Physics at grade A for example. Totally mix up. His sister, a year younger, has all numbers.

No mention of A level change yet.

Crazy.

Been using it for a couple of years after reading a newspaper article about it. It's so strange to think that, for example, in Iraq, most houses don't have addresses. Give that some thought; the implications are huge.

It was very handy when we had to meet Onionman Jr on a canal bank the other week. It changed "by the trees next to the water" into something a tad more precise.

Yep, I can see a couple of ways to incorporate it into the new business venture that I am doing with my son in law - bit left field, but watch this space :)

We were talking about good passwords earlier.

There is simply no excuse for this. I won't say where but this is a financial website and they aren't accepting symbols? Why the **** not? There are 35 symbols on my keyboard. Even if a hacker knew it was a particular character, that'd make the job 35 times harder. If it was in a random position in a 20 character password, it'd make cracking 700 times harder. If I put more than one in it gets even more difficult. This really hacks me off.

And why 8-12 characters? Jesus. Are they short of memory?

A thought provoking video for Friday. You're possibly completely unaware that this is going on, but from around 2011-12 onwards, the US stock market has been actively anti-Tesla. They call it 'Shorting', and the collective groups who do it are called 'Shorts' Tesla's share price goes up and down like a yo-yo, and that's largely due to the Shorts. Even so, Tesla's price is nearly $200 bigger than their closest rival, General Motors. Tesla's shares are the most shorted stock ever in the history of the US market. And there is no good honest reason for it. So some people, me included, have held an opinion that there is a conspiracy going on to hold Tesla, and hence the rise of the electric vehicle, back.

Jack Rickard, an engineer with a very long history and knowledge in electrical transport, runs his own blog. He is greatly respected in his views [you may not have heard of him, he talks ultra nerdy/trade language]. But recently, he put all of his views about Tesla and the conspiracy which he believes is happening into blog/print. Here's Zac and Jesse, from the popular Now You Know YT channel, taking the nerd out of it and exposing it to a wider audience. You may be surprised by the depth of the conspiracy that Jack considers is happening. I must say that, from my own experience of fairly closely following the progress of the EV, for now some 10+ years, all of the bodies and companies he accuses very much display the tendencies he points out. All in the cause of their vested interests:

It's an odd world.

SIR HUMPHREY: Mr Johnson, we have the EU on the phone.

JOHNSON: Oi, Frogs, we will only start negotiations if you give us exactly what we want before they start.

EU: Interesting take on the word "negotiations". We'd have thought, being British, that you'd understand the meaning of the word but... OK. Speak later.

JOHNSON: Why are you so unwilling to give us what we want out of negotiations before the negotiations so we can start negotiations?

PHONE: Click... bzzzz....

JOHNSON: Jesus, they are so unreasonable.
I’ll stick this on Politics or we’ll upset people.

Missed this the other week. Greta Thunberg on making the crossing across the Atlantic to address world leaders on Climate Change. And she's going the lowest carbon way possible. On board the sailing boat, Malizia II. Which is incredibly brave of her, as I believe it's her first go. Many children her age would totally freak out at the violence of a fast sail in a relatively small boat. But she's doing it for the right reasons. I wonder how many of those world leaders would be up to the task.

I understand that the green credentials of the crossing have been questioned. Because two of the crew are flying in and out of Europe to sail the boat. However, the spirit of the journey cannot be denied, and frankly it would be churlish indeed to question Greta's motives. She is the antidote to oil companies, the Koch brothers, Trump, and everyone else who deliberately resists the change to sustainable energy.

And the delightful Arron Banks’ response to this incredible 16 year old was to tweet that “freak yachting accidents do happen”.

Disgusting individual.
