I don't think many Gooners would disagree that we won't finish ahead of Utd, City or Chelsea this season. Cesc's comments are a valid observation of the situation. What's the problem?
Players are not as loyal now as they used to be. I recall some players who stayed with their teams and nothing could have prized them away in their heyday. I have also known Arsenal to have ups and downs but not for a long long time now. I felt 2 or 3 seasons ago that Wenger is running out of steam and maybe should soon move on or should have done by now,I can't quite decide. It's difficult to replace quality players.
All of us can agree with that. You didn't do it last season, and not only have all of those clubs strengthened (having started off with far stronger squads than yours), but you have weakened considerably. I don't think Fab went far enough with his comments. He would have upset the Gooners far more had he been more truthful and said that Arsenal would finish outside the top 4 this season. To the extent that he didn't say that, he's not being as disloyal to his former club as he could have been. Nonetheless, I still believe he is twisting the knife, especially as he is one of the major reasons why Arsenal are not going to be competitive this season. It would be like Modric joining Chelsea and then having a pop at us by saying, "Spurs can't now win the title!"
Well that would be a ****ing revelation eh? Cesc's comments were nothing more than a simple observation. He wasn't 'twisting the knife' whatsoever. It's the bitterness of those who want to make something out of it that it is sad. In fact Cesc respsonded to such inaccurate accusations with : As usual, some people just try to twist a story to suit their own agenda....
I don't get why Fabregas has said anything at all. It seems to me that he's just trying to justify his move to Barcelona, which would have been more easily done by just saying that we wanted to join the best team around and go home. Would it have killed him to have just said that the club could still compete and that they have a very good manager?
He's as entitled as anyone else to have his view - after all, he is an Arsenal fan. I see nothing wrong with his comments whatsoever. They are a simple observation, anyone would come to the same conclusion. There is a thread about this on our board, the fact that nearly every Gooner agrees with him and finds his comments perfectly acceptable, tells you everything you need to know
It can be. The fact that the same people who can be really negative find Cesc's comments perfectly acceptable is further proof that there's no controversy in them.
You don't find them controversial as you agree with them, Piskie. They're clearly unnecessary and unhelpful, though. The fact that he felt in necessary to clarify his comments would appear to back that up.
As a Arsenal fan - he's entitled to his view about our club. The fact that most Gooners agree with him, says it all. The fact that he felt it necessary to clarify his comments is because there are always those who will try to make something of it that doesn't exist
Of course he's entitled to his opinion of your club - everyone is. It appears to me that he's just trying to justify his move, though. If he and Nasri had stayed and played properly, then I don't think that you'd be writing yourselves off.
I'm not writing us off But I think we have to be realistic. I don't think Cesc needs to justify his move, deep down we all knew for the last 2-3 years that he wanted to go home. We just tried our hardest to hang on to him. But ultimately, if a player's heart is not in it, it's best he goes. Nasri on the other hand, is just a greedy ****
There's no difference at all, for me. Would Fabregas have wanted to go home if his home team was Granada? If he loved Barcelona so much, then why did he allow Arsenal to poach him in the first place? He's full of ****. Wasn't Nasri only offered about £10k more by City? Perhaps he got sick of being shifted out of position for someone that openly wanted to leave the club? He started last season very well playing in the middle, but as soon as Fabregas was back he was shunted out again. Don't get me wrong, Nasri appears to be an objectionable little twat, as virtually everyone in football seems to hate him, but I think that Fabregas' actions were very, very similar to his.
Maybe? I'm not sure about exact figures - but I believe Arsenal were offering Nasri £90k whereas city were offering £180k I find it hard to hate Fabregas and his decision to leave - he gave us eight years and always gave 100%. There's no legislation for a player wanting to go home, I genuinely think he was torn between us and Barca. But seeing as it's his home and they play the best football in the world, I can hold too much of a grudge against him really.
You're implying there's a problem...by using the word problem, at no point do I imply a problem. Its a humourous article on a Spurs forum...no problem there fella, thus no question to answer! ...next!
