...that the iconic photo of the Beatles on the Abbey Road crossing was taken. Next week it is fifty years since Woodstock. As Sandy Dennis sang, where does the time go?
Nah. It's the knitting circle, 50 years later. Almost attended Woodstock, but the bloody car broke down before we left Sudbury, Ontario. Biggest disappointment of my life. As students on a working assignment in Canada, we had zero cash to fix the bloody car. A month later, my mate (best man at my wedding) dumped the vehicle in New York.
I watched a documentary on it and it said the smell was disgusting with people not getting washed for weeks ! They all hung around Haight Ashbury for weeks on end .
No wonder they stank - it's a **** load of miles from New York State to 'Frisco. Yasgur's Farm was somewhat short of ablution facilities I'd heard. Probably a lot of hitchhikers travelling Westwards to California after the gig ! slightly better version... https://www.rockandbluesmuse.com/2019/07/05/review-woodstock-50th-anniversary-back-to-yasgurs-farm/
Everyone used to stink in the olden days. We used to get a bath once a week whether we needed it or not. You obviously never went to a party in the 70s.
I was once invited to Abbey Road Studios, to discuss producing an Abbey Road clothing collection under license. It was a fantastic day, I got a tour of each of the studios with a guy who gave us details of which studio had been used to record each of The Beatles biggest hits etc, then had a meal in the restaurant they've got in the basement (it's massive, way bigger than it looks from the front). Sadly, when it came to the detail of the deal on offer, they wanted a fortune in guaranteed royalties and I couldn't use anything Beatles related, the only thing I was actually allowed to use, was this...
A bit of Beatles triv for yous…. What was airbrushed out of the original Abbey Road crossing photograph, in 2003 by an American poster company?
