Class mate. Big trip for a 14 year old too. I never got that far. A bloke in one on my classes supported Ipswich and had nobody to go with so bought me and another mate a ticket and we travelled up and through London and up to Ipswich when we were probably 16. That was exciting. Ipswich were ****e and it was a library if I remember rightly. That's about all I've got but there was no snow!
Has he?! He owns and runs a book shop apparently in Pompey. I've driven past him on the A3 and people were tooting him.
Yes it was exciting ! Hardly any football on the telly back then so seeing some was great ! The waking up on a Saturday morning with excitement of going to the game was ace back then ! I couldn't wait to catch the football special to Boothferry Park ! Sometimes used to get the bus into Hull city centre then get the train to the ground . Good days
I think maybe the only way you'd get near that level of excitement is if you do away games. Travelling to unknown places and watching a game/having a few beers. Colleague of mine in his 50s sticks to just Pompey away games - says its so much more fun and lively. I'd love to go to more!
