Didn't say he was ****, I said Alderwierled is better. And nearly 1/4 of the price.

Just surprised you didn't go in for him, or anybody for that matter.

And five years older.

Anybody ? As in, anyone. Anyone is better than Maguire?

Ok mate.

Arsenal are more than welcome to pursue Alderweireld, Umtiti and Koulibaly by the way, clearly no one else is interested.

Yeah his age is against him, but I still reckon he's got 3-4 years at the top, unless as I said earlier there's some underlying injury issue with him.

Maguire is decent enough, I just think £80m is crazy money for him. But like you say, there aren't a wealth of CB's available at the moment, so that's going to push his price up. Koulibaly is probably priced out at £100m+ and there are injury concerns over Umtiti.

Surprised nobody has had a look at signing Ruben Dias or Jonathon Tah.

Really? .... he wouldn't beat Maguire in the air or in a 50:50 tackle ... Maguire started life playing in central midfield and is very comfortable on the ball and his distribution is very good ... so is it down to the hair gel? ... coz I really don't see what makes Toby such a brilliant defender ... Spurs defence failed spectacularly last season and without the quality they had in midfield and up front that defence would likely have had them in the bottom half... Maguire did the opposite for us ...

Never heard much of either of them?

Not saying that's a defining factor by any means, I'm not on the @Skylarker scale for European football scouting after all, but it tells me they are risk transfers to bring into the PL.

We've bought a zero risk player in my opinion.

Yeah it's a safe signing. It's just a spectacularly expensive one.

Far be it for me to defend a Spud, but wasn't he injured for most of last season ?

... Southgate is nothing if not fair in giving youngsters a chance and ad a central defender himself he knows what Maguire brings ....

Southgates honeymoon period is over ... england arent as good as people think. As soin as we play anyone good we get beat.

Maguire may have some good attributes but the fact he's a slow ****er makes a lot of them almost worthless unless he plays for a team that stick 10 men behind the ball. He fitted in well at Leicester because they sat deep and counter attacked.

We'll see... Utd got their man so let them crack on.

I just can't help remembering how much of a mug our forwards usually make him look when going at him with pace.

85mil is an absolute pisstake. Fair play to Leicester <laugh>
