Marvellous, the tyre-kickers are back.

It is believed Fortress Investment Group is one of a number of parties talking to Bin Zayed about providing expensive debt financing for a takeover of the Premier League club, owned by retail tycoon Mike Ashley.

Expensive debt financing sounds just what is needed....

The issue I am extrapolating from that is the group appears not to have any money, and will likely be leveraging the assets in the club to buy the club, at a LTV approaching 100%. This probably means;
1. Any reputable lenders will not be part of the picture. Whoever does finance this, it will be at a high interest rate, and any unsustainable debt puts the club's future at risk.
2. The group are time-wasters. They clearly need significant borrowed capital to even progress talks, and are not the rich Sheikhs we all thought. Best case scenario with these guys may be they buy Ashley out, but have no money to invest in players. Most likely case is they don't get near the asking price.

Sorry, but I don't want this group taking over the club, or using us for self-promotion.

Small side note, not surprising they can't get anyone from the Far East on the phone for comment though!

Either you really hate Mike Ashley, or reaaaaalllllyyy hate NUFC....

All they need to do is spend more that 5 million over the next 12 years

For all that I dislike Ashley and how he runs the club I honestly trust that he will have us financially viable. Indeed if we can keep surviving on the shoestring budget allocated we should be making money each year, there's nt many can say that and I wouldn't trade it for a group who are willing to leverage us up to the eyeballs.

Agree with this. For all Ashley’s lack of ambition we don’t want to be taken over by a group who will take on large external debt that needs servicing each year. They will be using any profit we make to pay interest and reduce debt, leaving nothing to spend on players. No point having an Arab owner if they are not rich ones.

Financially stable at the cost of an ever-growing stream of lies with the added bonus of buying HOS and any other failing shops with our TV money is plainly wrong.
Ashley OUT.

Does this sound like the Glazier's take over at Man Un.

So basically everyone wants santa clause to spend his money keeping them happy.

I don't think so. Fans want ambition but we're realistic too. Small but positive steps are what is needed. Bournemouth, Leicester, Watford etc - they aren't tuning their clubs into financial oblivion but they're trying to move forward.
