Hell fire, assuming they have the cast-iron evidence to find him guilty, they don't put even hardened criminals behind bars unless they absolutely have to, Barton will get a fine, slap on the wrist and a don't do it again. The ball will then be in Fleetwood's court, whether or not he continues to be in their employment.

He's famous, as a result whatever punishment he'll get will be less than what a random person off the street would've got for doing the same.

That didn’t happen in the case of a footballer who got longer for not having sex with a 15 year old than a senior police officer got for actually having sex with a 13 year old.

Reactions: Mr Hatem
There's a slim chance he might get banged up, he's previously had a suspended sentence for assault.

I was right - he did a stint of porridge

Nicked from wiki - so it could be wrong!!

Barton's career and life have been marked by numerous controversial incidents and disciplinary problems[2]and he has been convicted twice on charges of violence. On 20 May 2008, he was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for common assault and affray during an incident in Liverpool City Centre.[3]Barton served 74 days of this prison term, being released on 28 July 2008.[4]On 1 July 2008, he was also given a four-month suspended sentence after admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm on former teammate Ousmane Dabo during a training-ground dispute on 1 May 2007.[5]This incident effectively ended his Manchester City career.[6]Barton has been charged with violent conduct three times by The Football Association: for the assault on Dabo,[7]for punching Morten Gamst Pedersen in the stomach[8]and for attacking three players on the final day of the 2011–12 season.[9]
