I was wondering the same, as I snuck looks at my phone under the dining table to keep up with the score (stupid of me to book a family meal out without checking when the final was being played ). My assumption was that the fewest wickets lost would give the result to NZ.
That cake the Test Match Special commentary team referred to. Took two weeks to make, with frenzied activity from Thursday night onward: please log in to view this image
As usual I wanted New Zealand to win but the writing was on the wall with that last over. First Boult falling over the boundary to give Stokes 6 then the ball striking Stokes from a throw
What an incredible day, match, moment. Just shows its not over until it's over. Cricket is very much a team game but every team needs their heroes. Today a hero came in and took it to the opposition. A fantastic exhibition of batting, well done Joe Denly for your 138 not out against Hampshire
Absolutely. Those two sixes at the end of our regular innings. Both so weird in themselves. Then all that drama on top. Mental. If you wrote a cricket movie with that ending in your script, people would laugh at how ridiculous it is.
Well, my joy is now slightly tempered by the decision of someone in the area to celebrate with some very loud fireworks. My dog just pissed himself with terror in the front room.
I feel like an old grump, but I hate seeing my dog shaking with fear - and fireworks are pretty boring...
