Right now, and I appreciate that I might be in a minority here, I’m concerned. I appreciate that Origi scores some pretty important goals last year and I am very grateful to him for that.....but....here’s the rub....while his finishing was excellent, his performances were not and I fear that his purple patch might come to an abrupt end. His touch and final ball are woeful....and were poor in most of the games that he scored in. For me, he’s no more than a 5th choice forward. We need someone to rotate with the current front 3 and imo, it ain’t him. I think that, on this occasion, Klopp is being too loyal and we should sell him while his stock has never been higher. There I’ve said it. I feel a bit dirty saying it about someone who did help us win the CL but it’s how I feel about him as a player and I don’t think it will change.
There's a good chance we just sign someone without deliberating over rumours. A nice Fabinho style transfer is what we should probably expect.
Well havrey Elliott looks to be done by all accounts, just have to agree comp with Fulham. That’s two youngsters who are prob looking first team in 2/3 years time.
itd be nice yes. nobodies denied the real betis left full as far as i am aware anyway for example. if we believe klopp he's specifically called out ox, lallana and brewster and "new men" he added joe gomez to that but thats a stretch. The club have specifically denied certain players, no need to repeat who just that they all fit the roles that klopp has named players in. i think we will buy a left full. we might not with milner around but lets see. What happens over next 2 weeks will be interesting as everyone will get 45mins so two players will play left full and two people will play left wing, right win etc.
I couldn't disagree with anything written there. You are bang on. However the club doesn't agree so.... all we can do is hope. a) rhian brewster... the next timo werner. b) origi. if he works hard he is decent but he is for me a very much in the lines of the 6 yard box type striker. I don't think he is a left wing but he did work there a few times c) shaqiri... can take a free, can deliver a ball but is very one dimensional. We are imo depending on the front 3 to stay fit and rotate sparingly In midifeld we have windy and fabinho for no 6 and henderson too but more henderson ox kieta, lallana, milner all for no 8 type roles. thats a lot of players.... so if someone doesnt go we wont be buying. Add jones into that as well. For me we are one short up front. last year i'd have not put 2 bob on sturridge playing much and he did stay fit klopp didn't need him but he got a couple of goals. origi did more. Are we any worse than last year? no. did we expect a title push of 97 point... absolutely not. We can't expect that again this year i think would be my view irrepsective of who we have but i can't see us that good again. We will get a title push out of alisson, vvd, gomez, robertson, taa, fabinho.. that base is crucial to not losing games. If the forwards stay fit i feel we can challenge... even if TWO stay fit.
Thing is, you can’t argue with 97 points. Even though I feel that from a squad perspective, we need strengthening, If we stay fit in key areas, as you point out, we will still have the team that delivered 97 points. The problem is that City still have the squad that delivered 98 points (less VK) - we need to improve. If not the team, then the squad. The kids we’ve bought are not for next year or two.
Some players look like they are trying, some look a bit lazy, Origi falls somewhere in between. He never goes full pelt but neither does he just wait around. There's always a bit of an 'oh no' when he comes on, then he does something spectacular. To have been switched on for the Trent corner wasn't just good fortune. So there's something there (can you work on sharpness?) and for me if he can 'stay cool' and produce some more magic, I'm willing to roll with the 'oh no' moments.
Don't want to get into a discussion about it on here because it's got its own thread but there will be VAR to contend with. Which of us is more likely to benefit from it just going on our respective styles of play. I don't watch city but those who do claim there's an inbuilt sneaky fouling style?? Will that get found out or will they practice it in areas that won't be reviewed
they always foul in areas where it doesn't get reviewed. city will continue as is until refs hammer them. if refs booked fernandinhos 3 foul even 8td be ok but.my god..... he gets 6 or 8 before getting one.
I know we criticize City but we are also masters of the tactical foul. Firmino is our master culprit in this fouling. He gets away as much as the City lads. Mane does it too.
firmino gets called far more than fernandinho. firmino fouls with his dick. he barges into people and crotches them to the ground and he's always getting blown for it.
