I lived in York for about eight months, in 1989. I quite often forget that!

I did like the place, a lot, and I've never been back since sadly.
I go racing there two or three times a year and niece is at uni so always go and see her too. Fantastic place.

First time I'd been to the horses was bored out of my mind, wont go again.
Used to love the dog races, old man used to take me as a youngun down Walthamstow.
Never been to a horse race though, been invited to Cheltenham a few times but all the big races seem a bit pretentious and I don't like to gamble, or wear a suit<laugh>
not even for court:bandit: I should probably go one day for the experience.

Don't have to wear a suit at Cheltenham ... it's Royal Ascot that has the strict dress code ... but even then, if you're against suits, a nice cocktail dress would suffice ... but you'll also need a hat <ok>

Of course. Silly to think a Liverpool fan would live there I guess. Lots of horse racing in Liverpool, seemed odd that York would be the first time you'd been but makes sense now.
