A wandering through my vinyl stuff recently reminded me of this gent, Thomas Leer.
I bought his early experimental synth stuff and stayed with him as he produced a LP of decent pop songs (The Scale of Ten).
He then buggered off to form ACT with a strange lady from abroad.
This single was one of my faves to play before many a crazy debauched night out in Chichester. Crap video though

24 years ago today, Rory Gallagher died from complications after a liver transplant. An amazing live performer and a true blues man. He left behind some wonderful albums and I’ve just received the triple album “Blues” by him, which is fantastic.
He influenced so many guitarists including Brian May, Johnny Marr and (ahem) Slash (well, never mind).
Quite probably right up there with the best of them, but, sadly, still not recognised by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame
Rumour has it that the Stones asked him to join back in the early 70s but he turned them down, as he didn’t want superstardom ........ there’s also a rumour (unsubstantiated and most probably false) that after the Isle of Wight Festival where he played and Rory’s band “Taste” were performing, Jimi Hendrix was asked what it was like being the best guitarist in the world and he said “I don’t know. Ask Rory Gallagher”
Was lucky enough to meet him after a gig at Soton Guildhall back in 71 ..... such a humble man and always had time for his fans ......

Thanks. He was quite an accomplished sax player ..... I only saw him play it live once (bit difficult in a 3 piece band) but he brought the house down. Still one of my regular “go to” artists ..... yes, I know, I’m very old .....

I don't know so much Dave. More and more younger people are examining music from decades past and realising that creativity and musicianship was at a different order back then. And more and more young people love Rory. You can run your eye up and down Youtube comments and many of them range from the music being simply better to wishing they had been born back then. My opinion has always been that if a genre is new to the individual then it is new, and a whole field of discovery takes place thereon. So you never know, you could just be leading the trend.

for those that are Instead of enjoying the festival you can sit next to your tent and send updates and stuff..?
dont go on about bands too much tho or how great it is there as its just annoying..
keep it moderate. For example....

'turns out they're not real prawns tho- £12 rip off' etc...

I’d guess 70-80% of the tAimee I hear my son playing music I know who it is and mainly because it could have been me playing it at that same age.

Basically, once the Whichever's Got Talent, Whatever Factor and Voice generation got started, my musical knowledge has dropped to almost zero. And what's worse, I don't care.
Dave, we talked about 'older' music. I went a bit further suggesting that it was more creative and the musicianship might have been higher. Here's a guy called Rick Beato, who is an all round musician, youtuber and producer. He's been around a lot of bands, going way back. These days he's found real Youtube fame because he gets analytical about all music. Here he is dissecting Roundabout by Yes, from 1971, off their Fragile album.
Even if the music isn't to your favourite taste, there is no denying the creativity and sheer musical ability. And these guys were in their early-mid 20's at the time.

Great song, but the live version on Yessongs is far better, and features the best intro of any song ever!
