They need to do something about the offside rule.
Brazil had no less than three players very clearly offside, a couple of them by ten yards. But the officials don’t want to raise the flag, on the crazy chance somehow someone isn’t offside and then they can go to VAR.
My problem was this is that because they will not call the offside, the defense has to play. So then you get the car where a defender has to make a desperation header or some other play because there’s attackers behind them. Then they’re going to say that because the defender played the ball before any attackers touched it, they gained no advantage. But they did gain a tremendous advantage. You just gave it to them. They can all be offside and force you to either stop and give them a clear goal, or make a tough play and essentially play them onside.
If you are going to use VAR, and let play go on, then a player in an offside position is offside, whether they touch the ball or not.
