What are the overall site rules Frenchie ? I have looked for them but found only some new site rules regarding the importing of pornographic material and nothing else.

The rules are written in terms of guidance for the Mods.
  • If you request an own team member ban, it is a site ban, temp or perm, you decide – saves them disrupting other boards.
  • If members are having issues with spammers, troublemakers etc – encourage them to hit the report button, it is then down to the relevant board moderators to resolve (except spammers which are removed by supermods daily).
  • Moderators are only allowed to soft delete posts and threads, all tools are set as such to protect the site.
  • Rules apply to all, Supermods do not make exceptions because someone else thinks they are a nice guy on our board or they are your best footie mate.

There is a lot more that is about the relationship between the Mods and SuperMods that only applies to them. Yes there is stuff about porn, spam and posts encouraging violence. These are for legal reasons that could close the whole site down, but thankfully unlike others the Watford forum has not had that problem, although I do have to consider if statements that are unwise could finish up in court. The point that they make, "Please remember Supermods don’t go looking for problems, we got better things to do with our lives," applies equally to those who are humble Mods.

So, as I understand it, the supermods are only really interested in material which could damage the entire site, or which could lead to legal consequences. Which leaves us free to establish our own guidelines as to what is acceptable on our own club forum - and, in transgression of those guidelines, you would then have the power to request a ban if necessary - which would then be done/or not by the supermods themselves (do they simply do this on request) ? If that is the case then we need to formulate those guidelines.

I need to hear Our mods say yes to this..... because we have had occasional visitors saying differently.

So a mod can delete a post which trangresses? Without having to seek authorisation??

It looks to be supermods who actually authorise the ban?

I propose for each trangression:
Warning to remove or edit
delete
delete x2
delete x3
Ban

...and no discussion on the thread etc etc..... as it ruins the thread for everyone else

Suggestions for a start:
No personal abuse use of abusive words to or about other posters
No spamming, flaming etc... for example no posts that intend to inflame the debate
Sources must be quoted when asked
Respect the views of others
No posts that would be consdered libellous elsewhere.

I agree that there has been different feedback as to the actual admin. of the site, and who can do what - so maybe we need some transparency on this first.

That could work. But we need a new chapter if we're going to start again. Everyone has to disregard previous spats and give all posters a chance. And for what it's worth, SH should really be a valued poster on here. He's shown unique generosity in terms of offering spare tickets and scarves for GT day etc.

Not qute cologne. They want to see a trouble free site, without the trouble makers as well as those that will have legal consequences. Everytime a Mod requests an action, it involves them in doing something. There is no certainty that they will after a review agree to take action. I see what other Mods post, but there are also PM between Mods and SuperMods that I don't. Most times they do agree, but sometimes there are comments that make little sense because they have gone through the PM route. It is not a simple black and white situation, and some Mods themselves have fallen foul of the system, which is really supposed to be a light touch one. No one is paid to do the job, and many have quit over the years simply because they get fed up with the hassle.

I agree about giving all posters a chance Dan. The advantage they have on the QPR site is that so many of them appear to know each other away from the forum - which helps matters. If the only thing I know about SH is his behaviour on online political threads than my view can only be conditioned by that.

Don't disagree at all - but is good to see the bigger picture. And whilst we all get driven a bit mad by SH I suspect we all like a lot of it deep down. But yes sometimes the insults get a bit wearing and provoke us to respond in kind. This is exactly why I hope a fresh start is something we could do and see how it goes.

Thankfully the only thing I know about you is your comments and behaviour, I'm quite happy to keep it like that.

I could quite easily return the sentiments here, but it would get us nowhere. If you would have no intention of getting to know me away from the forum - and I suspect that you share that sentiment for many of the other posters on here, then why do you waste time here with posters who you, evidently, don't like ? You must have better things to do - or is it the thrill (and addiction) of managing to irritate people and draw a reaction from them which draws you back, time and time again ?

Of course which is why if he does not change there is zero future with these threads as long as he posts on here...
An intersting dilemma

Good of you to speak up for him... However I have not heard one concessionary post from SH yet? In fact I can't say I ever have?

I am enjoying the football live on TV. Surprisingly you are not? We have a thread you know..

Meanwhile I ask you again.. What will you contribute to rules of behaviour for this thread? Up to you? I have made my offer .

I'm hanging mirrors on walls.

You need to be a trifle more sophisticated to successfully antagonise.
