Means very little except to Stainesy... Jake Black ( aka Very Rev Wayne Love) of Alabama 3 died over the weekend...he formed Alabhama 3 with the Rev Larry Love many years ago...and hit public consciousness once with the theme to the Sopranos Rev Loves last words were allegedly "Tweet Tweet Possil Fleet"

I saw them twice when they were at the top of their game at Bearded Theory and Beautiful Days...one of the best live bands ever bar none. ( I also saw them once when they were not interested...but this is not the place to talk about that).

An iconic band that not too many people witnessed live. RIP Rev Love

That’s a real shame, I saw them 3 or 4 times and missed seeing them last December because of son’s ear incident. Brilliant band, and the Rev. Love’s idiosyncratic raps were a key feature. I doubt he had a healthy lifestyle, and why should he?

RIP

I just saw it on my night shift and I’m truly devastated....already seen them play Live 10+ times and was gonna see them again at Christmas playing the ‘Exile on Coldharbour Lane’ album......a really sad loss.
At an Alabama 3 gig you never know what you would get. Sometimes just 3 members turned up and at others you would get 15 or more on stage, with biker dude bodyguards and sexy nurses carrying giant syringes....some truly mad nights.

RIP Rev D......never forgotten.

The Presleyterian church of Elvis the Divine will never again hear your sounds of sweet, pretty country acid-house techno.

....and Niki Lauda said he had ‘no friends’. The 20% of Rush that Lauda said wasn’t accurate was obviously about his friendship with Hunt, which was doubtless also very competitive, but the film wouldn’t have worked showing them as great mates who loved racing each other rather than tense rivals.

Allegedly on the morning of the Japanese Grand Prix which was held in a rainstorm and which Lauda retired from enabling Hunt to win the world title by one point, Lauda had goose stepped into Hunt’s bedroom (which he was sharing with several girls) and announced ‘today I vill vin the world championship’.

This could possibly go on the politics thread, but a respectful RIP to the hundreds, possibly thousands, killed in Tiananmen Square protests 30 years ago. Remembering their courage is the only way that what they were trying to do has any chance of actually happening. And in that light, huge respect to the 100-180,000 Hong Kong people out tonight in remembrance, at considerable potential risk to themselves.

Just seen that Paul Darrow who played ‘Avon’ in ‘Blake’s 7’ died yesterday......

I so loved that programme and was one of the best sci-fi series of its time (even though it looks really dated now)

That's Avon and Servilan passed away recently.... Can't be many of the cast left.

So many of the stars of tv/film i grew up watching going now, very sad
