From my point of view, yes.... Its time for Steve Lansdown to step back in and take control of his/our club again. I don't know how many games he has actually been at recently but he NEEDS to come and see just how bad things have got for himself. Not only is there no direction from the manager of the team, there is silence from the Chairman regarding the pitiful performances this season. It would seem that all is fine and our tactics are apparently spot on or at least, thats what the manager tells the chairman who knows nothing about football - if this is so, why is it that WE NOW OCCUPY A RELEGATION POSITION...??? Also concerning is the fact that there are still some (admittedly not many) of our supporters who seem to think that given time, the manager is suddenly going to shake a magic wand and it will all be ok again. It is a pretty good axiom that a teams performance on the pitch reflect the character, desire and ability of the manager (you can think of your own examples). This would go a long way to explaining why our performances are lacklustre, aimless, devoid of direction, leadership, passion and generally mediocre. We no longer play anything resembling coherent attacking football and constantly play players out of position. JCR seems to be the only one who knows how to try and fashion a chance and he gets hauled off. In short, this manager is devoid of tactical ability and is bankrupt in the ideas department. I don't blame the players, they are capable of much better - I believe that the manager has dragged them down to his level. It is no longer about giving him time - rather like the monkeys, the typewriters and Shakespeare, you could give this manager an infinite number of games and players and an infinite number of formations and it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference because, he is not a leader of men... I believe that we are now pretty much back to how things were at the club before GJ came and without SL's hand at the tiller, the club is stagnating again.. I am genuinely distressed at what is happening to OUR club, the one that I have followed all around the country for my entire life so, SOLELY TO MAKE A POINT, I've decided that I won't go to anymore matches whilst this manager remains in place. In my case, this is cutting off my nose to spite my face as I have already paid for my season ticket so I am not damaging the club but the more empty red seats there are, the sooner Sexstone might get the message that leaving the current manager in place will see us back in League One and no Colin, that is not a good thing... Thoughts....
Protest anyone? i know some may think thats over reacting a little but a protest ALWAYS gets the fans heard, its a 100% winner if you want the board to listen to what you have to say........
I would suggest that all fans protest outside the ground and not enter the ground until a few minutes after kick off as for players and staff to walk out of the tunnel to no fans would send a message but knowing our luck. City would score in the first minute and we would miss our first home goal of the season, doh......
I think that Premiership sums up the thoughts of many, many fans. It's not easy supporting a club that has never really achieved anything, especially when you see clubs with even less stature of ours (Wigan, Blackpool, Swansea - and I mean absolutely no disrespect to those clubs or their fans) achieving Premiership football. We've heard it many times before that the Premiership can be reached by smaller clkubs with not of lot of money and it is true - hopwever the one thing that all these clubs have / had in common are a strong identity, a strong dressing room full oif players who are committed to the club and most important of all, a strong leader. We have none of these attributes right now and it's very disheartening. I sincerely hope that Lansdown does a u-turn and comes back to the club. Of course, his tax situation may not allow a day to day presence but let's not kid ourselves - in the gae of web conferencing he can still easily run the club. In my early career in Bristol, I worked for Mr. Lansdown and he was a fair but firm man. You did not want to disappoint him as you knew there would be issues regarding your employment status. Sexstone has no such quality - nice bloke to have a chat with but about as scary as Tinkerbell. Millen is in the same mould - nice bloke but a wet weekend. Until the manager and the Board has some bite, we will continue a slow march downwards. Like Prem, I chose to support Bristol City as they were my home town club and my Dad took me there each home game as he loved the club. All my mates supported Liverpool, United etc. The young ones in Bristol will simply have no interest in City as they want to associated with winners. Until radically change the management and culture, winning is not on the horizon.
I hope the board are listening because the outside world are... http://www.footie-online.co.uk/2011...ce-with-under-fire-bristol-city-manager/5725/
how long can he stay as manager, its obvious we will lose at Leeds, and i cant believe im saying this but i hope we do, just so they can get this clown out quicker but knowing our luck we will go up there and win 1-0 and it will keep the bloke in a job f,or another 5 games lose to Leeds on Saturday by a big amount (very high possibility) and Keef will be gone by Sunday
Now that WOULD be sods law but also pretty funny Have to say I never thought I'd agree with Wurzles but you guys are right, Millen and Sexstone BOTH need to go.. the problem is I firmly believe Mr Landsdown has decided enough is enough and his deep pockets cannot keep supporting your club in the same way... I believe (and this is an honest opinion) that a manager like Dave Jones would be good for you. However attracting someone like him may not be easy for a (visibly) struggling side... As an aside (and to add to your woes) I took my wife's Bristol City supporting nephew to watch Cardiff beat Donnie last weekend (the whole family are Reds.. what was I thinking of ).. he was VERY impressed and asked for a Cardiff polo shirt (which was duly purchased) so he could wear it during the game. He then asked at the end if he could come with me more often... I'm afraid I've started nicking your next generation of fans by the looks of it
What, for the shirt or for nicking your fans?? Yes for the shirt (money well spent if it starts to turn him to the forces if good ) And I suppose you could say yes for the fan being as it was my treat (although his dad bought the beers and food)... If it is any consolation I have spent some of my own hard earned cash at your place when I've accompanied them to games before now.... I just can't wear anything red or that has your crest on it when I go
