An interesting interview this evening with one of our ambassadors to the US. Do we actually want a trade deal with them? Our services that we sell are more or less at an optimum level, so there is little room for expansion there. What else do we have to sell that they must have? Very little seemingly. On the other side the US have plenty they want to offload onto the UK, and the UK could finish up being put into a situation where we are swamped with their produce and have little in return.

Trump is a nasty person and you seem to wish to associate closely with him. BoJo is also a nasty person and we all know your love affair with him. Time to stop and think if you really want to be lumped together with people that very few feel represent their countries with honour.

Trump is the President of the US. His position should deserve a decent level of respect.

I can only assume from this comment that you do wish to associate yourself with these nasty people. Remember May telling the Tory party they were known as the nasty party? Seems that you wish to continue the reputation. The respect due should go to the Queen for being used as a pawn by this defunct government.

As you are living in the land of the Nazis and support all kinds of communist despots your comment is laughable.

In case you hadn't noticed Germany has changed somewhat in the last 70 years. Basically your first comment deserves no reaction and will get none. As for what you call Communist despots - maybe you would like to remind yourself how many countries the USA has invaded since 1945 - and then compare that to eg. Putin. We have seen American military incursions in just about 80 countries since 1945 (some by invitation, but the majority without) - after invading they then declare all who fight against them as terrorists, and not worthy of normal POW treatment. They declare embargoes against any country they wish and then try to order the whole World to go along with them. No, there is nothing laughable in what I have said - the USA is the greatest threat to World peace at this current moment in time. I would ask you to retract your initial comment about 'living in the land of the Nazis' because this is an insult to what Germany is now, to most of my friends who bear no responsibility for the past, and to my present family.

This comment is beyond belief, but understandable from someone living in the past. Quite simply stupid. I take it that some of the England's glorious past in the colonies has passed you by.

Germany will forever be known as the land of the Nazis, you cannot erase history. It is a pity that there is now a resurgence in far right activity in Germany and beyond due to the arrogance of your chancellor.

You are talking about a country which has done more than any other to pay for its past, and which is now my home, and I share its nationality. The country has a higher foreign born population than any other country apart from the USA. including Jews, Poles and Russians, who all suffered more than the UK. did. Yet they all live in the present Germany without fear and are able, if not to erase history, to forgive and forget. You can go on needling me on this to your hearts content but it will get you nowhere - I know you are trying to provoke an aggressive reaction and the best way I can hurt you is to deny you your wish, which I am doing.

Much of what you say is true but history is history. My comment about Germany being the land of the Nazis is factually correct, it cannot be conveniently erased.

As you say 'history is history'. Is a country to be defined because of about 10 years of its history ? Germany is also the land of the reformation. The land of Goethe, Schiller, Beethoven etc. Is France only the land of Napoleon, and not also the Enlightenment ? Or should Britain be forever defined according to some of the atrocities of the British Empire ? Or is Spain only the land of the inquisition ? History is history - but history moves on - which you, obviously, have not realized. More or less every country has shadows in its past - can I define them only according to that - is Britain the land of slavery, because most of them were transported in British ships ?

"After the shared sacrifices of the Second World War, Britain and the United States worked with other allies to build an assembly of international institutions, to ensure that the horrors of conflict would never be repeated."

A sentence from the Queen's speech tonight. Note that she talks about other countries that have all come together over the years to ensure that the peace remains in Europe. Those countries since WWII have included Germany, who have been leaders in many respects. You could say that the country wished to make up for the mistakes of the past. Anyone harping back 70+ years really is out of touch with the modern world. Eventually you have to let go of the past, but learn the lessons from your mistakes. Every time that the Good Friday agreement comes up, you could go back to the appalling behaviour of the Black and Tans acting under the orders of Churchill, but that is history, and no government would behave in that way now.

Any wrongs Britain was involved in in the past pales into insignificance compared to the wholesale mass slaughter on an industrial scale perpetrated by the Nazi German government. That is why your adopted country stands out in the murder league, only challenged latterly by the communist fanatics Pol Pot and Chairman Mao.

The Queen is probably as disappointed as Trump and others that many EU countries are not pulling their weight towards NATO. Many have reneged on their promise to contribute 2% towards the budget and a European army would no doubt further reduce the capability of NATO.

I think you miss the point. She was talking about countries cooperating with each other in general terms, not just about NATO. As usual all you can think about is money, but a lot more has happened that makes understanding of each other progress. Medical research, sharing of culture, etc all contribute to peace. Your idea of being the awkward guest at the party does nothing to contribute to maintaining that progress.
