But Paul, you talk about ‘having a revolution’ with one breath......and in the next you say you want to stay in the EU, keep the ‘status quo’ that the rich most certainly want and continue to pay the pensions and wages of countless faceless Eurocrats who are taking the piss out of the poor and needy of our European brothers and sisters. Who’s side are you REALLY on mate ?
Daniel (Nobody's Talking About Leaving the Single Market) Hannan says “I have a horrible vision of every Tory MP losing his seat, a Lib-Lab government cancelling Brexit and scrapping the Lords, leaving me as the last Conservative standing - still in the sodding EU.” Made me smile anyway, Danny boy.
My comments were aimed at the politicos and media commentators who like to bash away at him (with justification, he’s a ****), usually from a liberal democracy standpoint, and take no responsibility themselves, but I think he’s an easy target (must be, even Johnson had a bash at him) and a distraction. If the conditions which make election of Trump, Salvini, Farage etc possible exist, people like them will be elected. Your lot failed to provide an attractive and viable alternative to people who voted for these ****ers, perhaps the focus should be on doing that rather than moaning. But I don’t hold you personally responsible, unless you have secret influence I am unaware of. But it’s really none of my business.
None of your business? Does your re-found anarchism absolve you of any responsibility? It's all down to me and 'my lot'? The conditions that make Trump, Salvini and Farage possible are not just economic, they are human conditions. These people play to the basest of human instincts - greed, selfishness, xenophobia, intolerance. It's in all of us. What would you have me do, other than to speak out against them and support those that oppose them?
I met Andrew Neil once while working at the airport. A very nice man who was both charming and friendly. I’ve liked him ever since.
It’s none of my business how you choose to react to Trump et al. I have a responsibility as well, of course, and I am trying to work out how best to live up to it, with little success so far. On these pages at least you have identified pretty strongly with Corbyn (except for his handling of anti semitism and stance in the EU), apologies if they are not ‘your lot’. I’d like to hear from them less about how terrible Trump is and more about their policies which will make us less greedy, selfish, xenophobic and intolerant. And at the same time give us the economic figures that somehow Trump is delivering in the US, possibly unintentionally.
If anyone is weak willed enough to have their opinion swayed by the thoughts of the POTUS then **** me, this country really is doomed.
Take to the streets Strolls.....don’t just moan about it on a message board where your message is only read by a select few.....its needs people like you to stand up and man the barricades.....talk is cheap brother
Well I don't just reserve my views for the good people of Not606, Stainesy. Taking to the streets is another matter, though. Anyway, if I demonstrated against Trump, you'd just call me another middle-class ****er playing at protest.
Revolution brother, with a brick or a petrol bomb in your hand instead of a placard......you, me and Stan together on the barricades.....we’ll be heroes (maybe).I’m crying with joy at the thought.
Ever considered moving to France? We were stuck at home last night as the Gendarmerie formed barricades at either end of our road in order to stop thousands of people in yellow vests going where they didn't want them to go.
I don’t believe you......Paul says it’s not a problem for anyone out there and the protests are insignificant. He wouldn’t lie
I identify with a radical left-leaning Labour Party, not particularly Corbyn, who has disappointed me. The last Labour manifesto was excellent, I thought, and I would support any leader that would implement it. I don't expect any government to change human nature, but I would like to see one that protects us from its baser traits rather than exploiting them.
Genuine question Strolls.....if Corbyn is ousted from the leadership of the Labour Party and someone like, for example, Tom Watson from the more Liberal centre Left is put in charge and the party takes the more centrist approach...would you still support them ? Me personally I’d resign my membership as I only joined because I thought the party was ready for more radical policies.....with the ‘enemy within’ I’m wondering if it was always gonna be a lost cause.
At least I’m not alone....personally I can’t stand that smarmy **** Watson and see him as everything I despise that the Labour Party once was under Blair.......
