Sunderland AFC can confirm that Lamine Kone has joined Racing Club Strasbourg Alsace for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old defender, who moved to the Stadium of Light in January 2016, spent last season on loan with the Ligue 1 outfit, making 31 appearances in all competitions.

Now he's gone we need another in much the same mould. I never felt that Kone would get outmuscled and he very rarely did.

Heart wasn’t in it in the end but he was immense fir Sam. Would’ve torn this league apart. Now go spend £undisclosed on someone who can handle the bullying in this league

Please don't sign any more six foot stick figures, get a couple of CBs with height, weight and muscle and we'll have a great foundation to build on. It's really not that difficult, they don't even have to be good.

Kone couldn't pass the ball more than a couple of metres and he didn't know where to stand unless O'Shea told him what to do but he'd piss league one.

Kaboul mate. We all know JOS never organised his own breath let alone another defender. Kone was immense alongside Kaboul. Nobody else.

Kone and Kaboul were the partnership, just like M'Villa and Kirchoff. :emoticon-0168-drink

I definitely remember that Kone played a lot better alongside O'Shea than he did without him, he needs someone to tell him what to do. True that his partnership with Kaboul was a good one.

Were JOS and Kone not our number 1 partnership for the season in the Championship?

Aye too busy doing that to worry about his own ****e performances! Had the odd good moment but he was still ball watching in his mid thirties and so slow that he got caught out time and time again.

With Allardyce gone and no decent partner Kone probably gave up to an extent.

Add a nice pay packet into that and he was never going to bother his arse.
