The whole North/South divide thing is a load of bollocks if you ask me. I live down here and there aren't as many differences as people like to make out. It's just a myth that people like to propagate because it makes them feel better for some reason.

I'm pretty sure fans from all northern teams would rather look forward to jollying it up in London than a day out in Derby. Even if it may sometimes come with a disadvantage in the pitch. And the uefa Cup final should not be moved depending on whose in the final. Not fair on who was awarded it

Fickle as ****. Can already see he's one who will point the finger when things don't go his way.

Sly dig about them having more fans on the day. Charlton live round the bloody corner and we have 400 odd miles to travel for the second time in two months. Not everyone is on a 6 figure salary like you Charlie mate.

Obvious dig about being quiet. I wasnt there so can't comment directly but it's been a long season for the fans. We've travelled far and wide to follow you this season. Sold out every away game and broke many attendance records.

We were hear long before you Charlie and will be here long after you mate so be careful who you start criticising.

    Agree 100% mate.

Personally I’ve always loved London and thought it’s a shame that many Englishmen don’t feel that way, such a diverse and alive place.

The South coast is absolutely beautiful as well, doesn’t need to be ‘us and them’. We get paid a bit less, but then our houses cost a lot less, technically we are better off so where’s the divide?

We are all English, and all equal to the same degree all northern and southern are.

It's the same down here though. Plenty have no concept of what the NE is like. I've lived in a few different places in England and all have their own character but people are people wherever you go.

I’m always proud when I speak to someone from the south, who’s actually been to the north, and they say how beautiful it is.

Make no mistake it is, as is much of England. North, South, East and West.

Of course there are differences, but there are differences within the post codes of any individual UK city as well.

Isn’t that part of what made Britain ‘Great’?

Oh yeah, the NE is great and I tell that to anyone who'll listen down here. We've got a lot of great places all over this country.

The more I think about this the more pissed off I get.

I hope he clarifies or at least says something to clear those comments up on the podcast which I can see has just come out. I'll be listening to it on way to and from work.

We sold 75k tickets for Wembley inside 2 months. Such a shame he directs some of the **** towards us.

People have sacrificed an awful lot to be there and I can't get over this.

Where I was sat in block 507 the crowd was a lot more subdued or hungover than for the Checkatrade game. For a start most people in front and around me were sat down for this game rather than standing. The bloke next to me was sat with his hoody up trying to have a kip for most of the game, his mate on the other side kept punching his arm to wake him up. When he was awake, he kept telling me how ****e we were and that we were going to lose again.
Maybe Monty did go to Wembley after all <doh>

Just spent 2 hours listening to the Rokerreport podcast. I suggest you listen to that before judging him (or Stewart). Gives at lot more insight than a quote off a local radio.
(Edit: just saw you were planning to listen to it, what did you think ? )
Both of them seem to genuinely care for both the club and fans.

It also gives a good reminder of how far the club has got compared to where it was 12 months ago.

(paraphrasing) The foundations have now been built, all the negative **** has been dealt with and now they can focus on the positive things.

Playoffs were the target this season (even though they are gutted we didn't get promoted) , next season it's 100 points.

Something doesn't sit right , we averaged nearly 20k more in attendances and Charlton were relegated in 2007, this blokes a penniless tw@t who should think before he talks sh@te.

Dan I think our Little General has an agenda with our club as I've never seen him post anything positive about our owners and manager.
just my opinion and this forum is all about opinions.

I've listened to the first 20 mins this morning on the way to work and Charlie doesn't say a word thus far.

I can judge what he said on the 2 minute sound clip in isolation. He was having a dig, and I didn't like it whatsoever. Some lip service on the podcast isn't going to change that for me.

I get that we were on a downward spiral etc. and they've helped to stop that. It doesn't make them/him immune to criticism though, just the same as Jack Ross isn't.

Not saying they aren't immune to criticism, but judging on a 2 minute soundbite without listening to everything isn't exactly the way to go either is it ?

What they say on the podcast is, that there are times that the fans are quiet. However, they say that this is probably a hangover from previous seasons when the fans get nervous when we (the team) stop pushing on when they have 1 goal lead. That leads to a vicious circle where a quiet/nervous crowd is picked up on by the players...

To fix this, they didn't say the fans needed to change, but they, as fans themselves, want to see a team of winners that isn't satisfied with 1 goal leads and pushes on for more. They said they had a talk with Quinn, on our record Championship season, and quinn said they regarded 1 wins by less than 2 goals as defeats, as winning by only one goal meant they had given the opposition a chance. That's the type of mentality they want to see in the dressing room

I love visiting London. Love the place as a city... but I spent 4 months contracting down there and hated living there.

Maybe it isn't but I heard that before I even knew he was going on the Podcast with Donald. Emotions run high in the aftermath of something like a playoff final and it seemed like those emotions were being directed in the wrong way. It's easy to have a few days reflection and put a spin on something.

I’ve never fancied living there, and I was always open to time away when I was younger.

Same as you say though always love a reason to visit. I love the 20 towns in a city kinda setup. It’s an amazing place.
