Have you got a bug on my phone???? That is the exact same discussion I had with FHB last night?.... Bowyer & Gallen to WBA and Jacko & Jason as Manager/Ass Manager for us.
It doesn’t take much working out - Duchâtelet knows the fans will be livid if Bowyer leaves next week...the “populist” appointment will be Jackson who, in reality, will be takiing on the ultimate poisoned chalice. Latest example - Josh Cullen says he may like to stay with us next season ....under Bowyer in the Championship.
It’s worth watching Bowyer’s speech to the players after the celebrations yesterday. A mixture of camaraderie & steely ruthlessness, which all top manager’s have. He will be a success as a manager in the Championship next season as well, if he is given a sensible level of backing.
Although both the 2012 and 2019 promotions are fantastic parts of our history, this one rates even above what Chris Powell achieved seven years ago. Being runaway L1 Champions with over 100 points was thoroughly deserved and no fluke as some fans seem to feel, but CP was not being hampered at every turn by that pair of of absolute Cnuts Duchatelet and Driesen. Part of my initial dislike of Lee Bowyer had a lot to do with him appearing to be utterly subservient to RD, and it still doesn't sit well with me at all. But Bowyer has achieved something I thought was impossible, a miracle which justifies the price he has had to pay in personal humiliation, having to tug his forelock to the Belgians all season. If Bowyer stays and keeps Charlton in the Championship even I'll have to say that will make him our best manager since Curbishley.
Yesterday was another managerial masterclass by our fantastic fledgling manager. Taking off Naby for Pearce and moving Bielik forward choked the life out of Sunderland, they hadn't a clue how to get through us in the second half. Then bringing on Jonny Williams to run at them when they were tiring and frustrated effectively won the game for us second half. Brilliant. He has wrung every ounce of ability out of this squad, and ruthlessly ditched anyone like Fosu who doesn't buy into his philosophy. If he is given a new contract I will buy a season ticket regardless of the owner.
Bielik was wasted in the first half, he’s a far better player when allowed to push forward. Sarr copped a yellow card, so a shrewd substitution by LB. Bowyer’s only blind spot is Josh Parker, but nobody is perfect ...
Williams totally changed the nature of the game. I think the game could have been a lot easier if he started the game.
Yet, IMHO, nobody has mentioned his most hard nosed decision... Albie Morgan wasn't even on the bench from starting both semis!
But he gets his tactics from Mr van Gerwen, he knows better than anyone. @AllHellLetLoose today is a 'free hit' for you mate. Today you cannot upset me, crack on today mate.
Jose Riga all over again. And this time he can go on the Jim White show to blame the fans and play victim.
