Mind you I do have a Garmin Sat Nav with the "Selina" posh English bird voice. It cracks up any Serbian passengers with her pronounciation of Serbian streets and Mrs. Serbia gets very jealous of her. Least she knows where she's going love!
Those damned statistics again. I guess we ought to celebrate Foxconn [Apple] saving everybody's lives then. Or perhaps not. Just buy a product from another company that doesn't have a slightly dodgy reputation. I'm sure there are one or two out there.

Foxconn didn't save everybody's lives. They did, however, have a much lower suicide rate than the norm for China. By all means show that those facts are incorrect, then I'll take your advice about their "dodgy reputation".
I say this as someone who refuses to have any Apple products in the house, as it happens.

Actually I was being a bit jokey about the thing. I'm sure there are solid reasons for the suicide rates being lower at foxconn than is average for the whole of China. One is taking a small section of skilled population against the whole population, for example. The important comparison was that suicides happened there, amongst a skilled workforce and doesn't happen with a similar skilled workforce elsewhere. I seem to remember from the investigative prog I saw that the people worked under an arrangement that people here certaintly wouldn't tolerate. Passports confiscated, for example.
I also wouldn't have an Apple product in the house for various reasons, including this subject.

Popped along here to put up a video or two of that Peugeot E-Legend, pictured earlier. Unlike many concept cars, this thing actually works. Has a proper 0-60 mph time (4 secs) and top speed (120). Unfortunately, every video I found of it moving, bar one was filled with relentless disco music. I wouldn't expect you to put up with that. The remaining one was more of a video about the host's reactions than the car itself. But, if you can stand it, she does eventually show you the features...

Stunning looking car - I'd buy that tomorrow if I had a big wodge of cash spare. Love the angles and the 60s retro look. You'd want some space around you though, to open those huge doors but I suppose you get it to drive out of a tight parking space before you get in.
I hate big cars...mainly because I live in a place with narrow roads. It's like meeting a tank....usually driven by a moron. And they take up too much space in car parks and block your view. There always have been big cars but now there are too many of them. And modern cars are often down right ugly.....look how ghastly they have managed to make the Mini. I find it very odd that cars have got bigger as we have got more crowded....logically cars should have got smaller.
And a side issue (not part of my moan)...I was watching the tv programme about the A1 and the people who move crashed cars out of the way to quickly reopen the road. They couldn't move one car because it was a hybrid and the car body could be live, so they had to wait for a specialist to come and test it. Found that interesting....though I am sure that problem will be overcome in time as presumably more people will be trained to deal with it.

I agree, it is a stunning looking car. There is this recognised trait that traditional car makers deliberately make their concepts and upcoming pre-production EVs to have an 'EV look'. I can sort of understand them doing this because an EV has no bulky engine, so the passenger cabin doesn't have to be in exactly the same position and still be safe. But the vehicle buying public are fairly conservative to change, and legacy car makers know this, yet they continue to show us phenomenally ugly future cars. But this is changing at last, primarily I think because of Tesla who make damned pretty cars that don't challenge the eye too much. Some people find them boring looking [some always will], but they sell like hot cakes. Peugeot must recognise this. For the last 25 years or more they've been making better than average looking cars, in my opinion. So it shouldn't surprise me when they went for it, style wise, that it would look pretty stunning. It's one of the few concepts from trad manufacturers that made me think, 'I want that future'.
Could not agree with you more Fran about cars getting bigger as the roads have become more congested through increased numbers. That's a double whammy. Take Ford as an example. Donkey's years ago the little Fiesta appeared. These days it's the size of a small family car from 30 years ago. Ford brought out the tiny Ka, and even that has got a bit bigger. The BMW Mini should be renamed the Maxi. It's about the same size as the old Austin/Morris Maxi from the 1970s. Being a former Austin Mini owner, I call the modern Mini the 'BMW Elephant'. In contrast, the modern Fiat 500 may be bigger than the original. But it's still easily small enough to be damn cute.

My sister in law just climbed it, and her 80 year old mother climbed to base camp. They both said the crowds and queues were ridiculous, even though it was largely people like them, novice climbers, who made up large portions of the crowds that add to the danger further up.
I asked them if they were going to offset the carbon cost of their little jolly to the top of the world, and got shuffling feet and sheepish eyes.
I heard somewhere that this current Fiesta is the last model they will make because its, so close to the Focus, same with VW and the Polo being similer in size to a Golf.
I'm a bit of fan of old cars, think it's because the cars that were new when I was a youth, I still find them desirable, and modern cars are boring. I have a T reg Polo and an X reg Mercedes E class, both cost less than a grand and both flew through their last MOT.
