I'm sure any new Tory leader that actually believes that democracy is important will try his or her best to agree a good deal. Failing that they should honour the referendum and take the UK out of the EU on or before the 31st October. It is key to hold back the ransom until sufficient progress is made on a new trade deal.

 

Since posting this I have been trying to find out how many EU nationals residing in the UK were denied a vote. Some estimates are putting the figure at close to 2 million. If that turns out to be the case, the whole election should be re-run.

 

That is unlikely to happen. It would only lead to a much bigger landslide for the Brexit Party in the UK.

 

Of course it should be re-run if that is the case. Not sure if that would help matters much because repeated elections tend to lead to election fatigue and a consequently lower turnout, which, in turn, could lead to even more bizarre results. I am looking at the bigger picture anyway - we are voting for blocks in the EU Parliament and a vote for the Green Party here leads to the same result as one done in the UK. Overall the Greens-European Free Alliance will increase their number of seats significantly, and I can't do more than to assist in that whichever country I actually vote in. I am not worried whether a Pole in the UK. votes there or in Poland because it comes to the same result in the same overall election - as long as they actually do vote somewhere.

 

In 2014 it was shown that 500,000 EU nationals living in the UK were wrongly denied their rights to vote. The government acknowledge that the systems needed changing. What have they done? Sweet nothing. A year before Grenfell the government was going to bring the building regulations up to date. Once again they did nothing. The government has been only notable for doing nothing.

 

Absolutely - because it's a well known fact that most people from other EU member states living in the UK support Brexit

We will have to wait and see. You are a paid up member of the Conservative party so celebrating the Brexit's party's potential triumph is a bit hypocritical.
Then again you don't know the difference between a Parliamentary report and a report written by a think tank so I doubt you really understand anything.

 

Being a civil servant you should keep your head down after the performance of your colleagues in messing up Brexit

 

I am afraid it is the ERG who messed up Brexit. You could have been out by now and not taking part in these elections if their ideology hadn't taken over from reason.

No, the mistakes were made by weak willed remainer politicians and senior civil servants. May's choice of advisers for her GE manifesto must also take much of the blame.

 

Who chose to listen to those advisors? The PM that you voted for. No good moaning when you elected her and her MPs.
