There are multiple breaches of EU. treaties here Frenchie which state catagorically that EU citizens living in other EU countires have the right to vote in these elections under exactly the same conditions as the native population. Contravention of these treaties could well see the British votes regarded as null and void, and Britain being asked to vote again. Just one humiliation after the other for this country I'm afraid.

You are right cologne, there are multiple breaches of the law for the reasons you give. It seems unlikely that the election could be held again, but the government could find itself in court yet again. What we are seeing is the "hostile environment" encroaching on democracy now.

You obviously lack a sense of humour. :emoticon-0105-wink:
And you obviously lack any sense of the seriousness of this - Britain could be taken to court for failing to uphold democratic standards in an election. Thus falling into the same boat as countries like Zaire, Erdogan's Turkey, and the Philippines. Have you no sense of national pride whatsoever ?

Those that voted for Brexit posess a much greater sense of national pride than others that would further damage the UKs sovereignty given the chance.

Which is why you want to turn what was once the second most powerfull nation in the EU. into a banana republic ? You want to turn the UK. into a bargain basement location opening its legs to the World's trade like a prostitute - open to one TTIP agreement after another which Britain needs more than the countries concerned, and which will rape our country and strip most of our hard earned workers rights. Just as your heroine of the past sold one national concern after another to foreigners yet claimed to hold the high ground on patriotism. You make me sick - and that is not an insult, just a statement of fact - it is people like you who are destroying the country I love, so don't come on here and start mumbling on about national pride - you don't have an ounce of it.

Maybe that's what the selfservative "government" are aiming for...

So The PM is going on 7th June, but will hang around while the Tories pick a new leader. She talked about compromise, but the reaction heard since her speech suggests that the ERG are no nearer compromising than they have been for the past three years. What thay have done is bring a general election that much closer. A number of Tories have openly been saying they will be prepared to bring the government down rather than leave the EU without a deal. Those who wish to leave without a deal are unwittingly playing right into the hands of the Labour Party.

No, there is no prospect of a general election, I would fully expect this parliament to last it's full course. When it comes to comrade Corbyn looking as if he has any chance of power the UK electorate shivers and backs away.

As most Tories are saying, she inherited a mess of a party, and has made it worse. Apart from the odd bods no one believes that the new PM will be able to pull this deeply fractured collection of MPs together. May reminded a party conference that they were known as the nasty party, and she wanted to get rid of that tag. Her policies have made that even worse for vast swathes of the population.

The new Brexiteer PM will ensure the Tories unite quickly as they always do. Time to send a proper negotiating team to Brussels to take on the bully boys. If they will not negotiate sensibly we will just leave and negotiate later.
We need to keep those useless senior civil servants well away from the talks.

Heath, Thatcher, Major, Cameron and now May, all Tories brought down over Europe. This shows how over decades the Tories have never been able to unite.
