I think the main reason the penalty was given is that Carragher holds onto him for too long. The reason he holds on is because he's falling over. please log in to view this image If he lets go at the point in the picture, which is just as he's starting to fall, I think he gets away with it. Also, Walters has turned away from goal and has less chance of chance of scoring than he had just moments before, so Carragher can probably afford to fall over as the other defenders would likely have got back, or Reina would have closed him down.
Btw, Walters does come slightly from behind Carragher. I don't know what you mean by 'if he had been behind him he'd have been offside' Dave. Unless your definition of 'behind' is closer to the goal line. Pennant flicks the ball over, Walters gets round Carragher, Carragher then gets back round Walters who shields the ball. So by the time they come together, as in the stills shown above, Walters is between Carragher and the ball, and just slightly behind Carragher. He does knock into Carragher and put him off balance, but I wouldn't call it a foul. It does however win him the penalty because it causes Carragher to hold onto him.
No, what I have a problem with is the fact that you seem to be forgetting that Liverpool should have smashed Stoke. Your players didn't even score, let alone kill the game off when they had chance after chance to do so. It's as much their fault as it is the refs that you lost.
Oh **** off Skylarker, no-one gives a **** what you have to say you digusting piece of erectile vomit. P.S. I love you xx.
I'm not having a go at you complaining. You win some you lose some over the season but every fan has the right, I'd expect them to aswell, to complain when things don't go for their team. Ok pissy pants ?
I don't see the big fuss. You win some you lose some. We didn't get the rub of the green Saturday, no big deal. We might get a bit of luck next game, we might not. It's all fun and games and at the end of the day teams don't complain when they get a bit of luck. I couldn't give a **** about what's happened. It's in the past and my only focus is the game on Sunday
I see my suggestion for you and AE to have rigourous bum sex then see how you felt about one another didn't work then ?
I disagree. If Walters was behind Carra before the coming together then he would have been in an offside position. When the ball does arrive Walters leads with his arm and is intent oon taking Carra out before the ball arrives. At the angle that he makes the challenge it is impossible for him to do that shoulder to shoulder. Clattenberg has a clear view and must have seen that it is not until carra is knocked off his feet that he holds on to Walters. It was NOT a penalty as there was no intent by Carra whereas there was intent by Walters.
