In Serbia you still come out of the supermarket with about 20 plastic bags. It states that they are 100% bio-degradable. Not sure if that means within a year or 500 years? Anyway I sell lots of things to the U.S. on ebay and stuff them all in the packet. Better there than here!

They're just being representative of the general public who don't have any more of a plan as to what to do.

They've handled it badly but they've been dealt an impossible hand. Not voting isn't going to make it any easier for them to understand the views of the public and come up with a solution.

From my point of view they have had 3 years to understand. Trouble was all parties were convinced we would vote to stay. So the majority of MPS are trying to insist we stay, ignoring the referendum. So I ask what is the point of a referendum or voting in MPs just to do what they want.Not what the public wanted. Oh you are probably right in thinking the public don't want that anymore because they have made such a bloody mess of the whole thing by all parties. People are just fed up with how the MPs are ruining our country..........

The public don't want to do anything. Theres no majority for any course of action, so the government are doing just that.

If you don't recognise that then you're the one ignoring the result of the referendum.

The referendum said we wanted out..........Yet you are saying the public don't want anything?? Perhaps Teresa May should ask the people if they want her deal or to just come out then. Then will the MPS act..........???? Do you think that may make up the MPs mind for them one way or tother????

There is a point of an advisory referendum and returning an MP who is elected to use whatever experience and knowledge they have to act in the best interests of constituants and the country as a whole. Edmund Burke's thoughts are relevant today given the current and ongoing chaos:-

“Your representative owes you, not his industry only, but his judgement; and he betrays instead of serving you if he sacrifices it to your opinion”.

“Parliament is not a congress of ambassadors from different and hostile interests; which interests each must maintain, as an agent and advocate, against other agents and advocates; but parliament is a deliberative assembly of ournation, with one interest, that of the whole; where, not local purposes, not local prejudices ought to guide, but the general good, resulting from the general reason of the whole. You choose a member indeed; but when you have chosen him, he is not a member of Bristol, but he is a member of parliament”.

Blame also attaches to the string pulling media figures misleading the voters, the likes of the Barclay brothers. Rothermere, Murdoch, Aaron Banks and his ilk. I'm sure others from the remain side could be added to this list

I know the referendum was a closish result but non the less it went against all parties views. Now the MPs should be acting on what the people told them they wanted. That to me is democracy, now because 46% disagreed you are saying the MPs should follow that line. Something is definitely wrong then with our voting system if that is the way to go. Just my opinion......

The referendum advised that a small majority (2% swing) wanted to leave and that 1/3rd of the country either didn't care or wasn't engaged enough to vote on the matter at all, hardly damning evidence to make massive changes to the constitution.

The truth is either way this plays out a third of the country is being ignored and will feel unrepresented. The whole process has been ill conceived, rushed and used by too many individuals for political gain.

My understanding 48 to 52 still 4% unless my figures are wrong.....

17.4 vs 16.1 million = 1.3 million majority, 3.8% of those who voted far to small for such a momentous decision that will affect generations to come. Lasting damage has already been done, those that can least afford it will bear the brunt of that. This should have been a qualified majority referendum, this ongoing disaster would have been avoided and pressing national needs addressed.

I’ve always said that it’s difficult to get people to turn out to vote to support the status quo, much easier to get support to change a situation that people aren’t altogether happy with. Of course there’s a lot wrong with the EU, but it’s interesting that across Europe the nationalist parties are no longer campaigning for Frexit, Italexit, Dexit etc., but for changing the EU from within. I wonder how long Farage and co. will take to be persuaded by their colleagues in the EU Parliament that it’s better to be an active force on the inside that shouting from the outside?
