Not buying into any Gomez sentiment. De Ligt is a far better player and having the Dutch CB pairing works for so many reasons. I still think the reason Gomez looked so good was VVD, anyone that plays next to VVD is elevated to the next level.

It's a dream transfer that won't happen but if it does we'd be set up for years to come.

could you not say that the two dtuch men are similar and that having both might not be optium.

that said i'd love to see vvd feed to go do a kompany ;)

That's fine if you want to buy De Ligt as a promising £25m player but the idea that he's a "captain" on star money is a [HASHTAG]#joke[/HASHTAG]

De Ligt would develop alongside his international team-mate. Van Dijk improved Dejan Lovren , so obviously he would improve a world class talent like De Ligt.

Anyway with Matip and Gomez there would be the luxury to slowly integrate De Ligt. He wouldn't be thrown in at the deep end. He would be bedded in just like Fabinho was.

Signing De Ligt would allow us to play three at the back (with VVD & Gomez) allowing TAA and Robbo to be even more attacking <yikes>

I can't see Klopp going with a back 3 on a regular basis that's with De Ligt or anyone. Whilst it does work offensively, it's far too easy to attack. All teams have to do against back 3's is get down the sides and play through the lines. That is why we had so much success against Wolves and Watford. Klopp used natural width and had Hendo and Gini playing narrow running beyond their centre backs. The natural width came from crosses from Robbo and Trent.

Can't stand a back three mate, was just throwing it out there

I disliked playing in a back three more than I dislike watching a team play it though, horrible system

It's "ok"... if you play a genuine 4 in midfield like conte did.. bit only ok.

When you've 433 it is so.much more flexible, you can flood midfield if you want. push lots on. defend deep etc.

the main issue though... centre half are centre halves and absolutely hate being in wide areas for a reason. they get run past.

VVD and Gomez can both play so you'd like to think they would both step forward. No idea on De Ligt.
