Swansea have been cutting costs since they were relegated from the Premier League a year ago.
Following their relegation, they allowed 16 players to depart last summer and made only five signings.
More players are expected to leave this summer. Wales winger Daniel James is set to be sold and more than £20m of signings will depart on free transfers."

Potter knew the Club was cost cutting when he interviewed for the job ,whats changed ? ah yes a chance at managing a PL Club (atm)

agree mate but I think even he was shocked at the severity of the cost cutting and as you say, who would knock back a chance at the PL??
Like I said in a previous post theres an offer and then theres an offer with compo ,Im guessing he jumped ship when he could so the yanks will be happy
What I don’t understand is the measly £3m release clause. Surely the coaching team would be on £1m a year so it’s basically just buying out the contract. If we truly had a 3 year plan and expect the manager to deliver it should include loss of prize money plus cost of a replacement. Why do we always have such cheap clauses!?
Every name on there has been mentioned on forums so I wouldn't take much notice of their journalism ,Toshack would be the cheap option and thats what they like no disrespect to the man but U23's and managing a Club side is slightly more demanding

There are a number of out of work managers who have better Championship records than Potter.
If Potter was offered a contract that would make him one of the highest paid then you may be able to get them.

Trouble is we suspect that the contract offer was made solely to get Brighton to up the ante ......

I think it might be too soon for Leon, he is no Martinez, but he might well surprise us though, I have mixed feelings of throwing Leon into the 'Lions Den' with our current situation..........

Let's be honest, we're not going to get anyone other than a cheap/desperate appointment to fill a crack (hopefully not make it wider), a journeyman/mercenary or a rookie looking to make a name.
At least Leon knows the club inside out, including the ownership fiasco and like you say would be loyal and have the fans backing. It's going to be desperate whatever happens. You could argue a Pulis type would have the nous to keep us up but I doubt they'd touch us with a barge pole anyway.
