CHRIS COLEMAN is on the brink at Hebei China Fortune after fans called for his sacking.

The former Wales boss has won just one of nine Chinese Super League games this season, leaving his second-bottom side from near Beijing in the relegation zone.

Despite having ex-Liverpool star Javier Mascherano in his ranks, Chris Coleman struggled in China
Hebei set Coleman the goal of reaching the Asian Champions League - which needs a top-three finish - term but the club have suffered a miserable set of results.

That led to angry fans calling for Coleman's head during the 3-2 home defeat by Henan Jianye last Saturday.

Supporters held a banner written in both Chinese and English, reading: "Hello Mr Coleman, please go home! You're fired!!!"

Coleman has been in Beijing for just 11 months, having signed a two-and-a-half year deal worth more than £3.5million a season to replace Manuel Pellegrini in June 2018.

The 48-year-old guided Hebei to a much-improved sixth-placed finish last term but the side, including ex-Liverpool and Barcelona star Javier Mascherano, have declined since then.

And Coleman has won just seven of his 30 games.

Hebei were forced to release an open letter to fans last week apologising following the toughest start to a season in the club's history.

The statement read: "We let you down and we can’t make any excuses for the recent performances. We have to say to you: sorry.”

The current troubles are a far cry from Coleman's most successful stint as a manager when he led Wales to the Euro 2016 semi-finals in France.

The former Fulham, Real Sociedad and Coventry chief resigned as national boss to take over at Sunderland following the failure to reach the 2018 World Cup.

But Coleman failed to keep the Black Cats in the Championship and was axed 12 months ago before his move to China.....

He came across as a really nice bloke, but i was one of the few that was glad when we finally saw an end to his inept tactics, selections and formations.
Looks like he's made himself a fair few quid out there so good luck to him. He should enjoy retirement now.

So disappointed I was wrong about him. Thought he was going to be a decent manager for us! Looks like he's not going to be a decent manager for anyone!!

May not have been his fault this time. According to a statement from his wife he wanted to resign end of last season, but they wouldn't release him. Seems they lost a of of players, but wouldn't allow any new signings.

    Just odd!

He cant complain too much, his Chairman Cha Ching was paying him a hefty salary.. He had Sum Ting Wong playing in defence and Dum Fuk playing upfront. Not many teams had players of that calibre.

    From his wife:

Apparently guided them to 6th place last season. (not sure when the Chinese season starts/stops)

He was forced to sell players in the summer, and wasn't allowed to bring replacements in.

Wanted to leave before beginning of the new season but wasn't allowed

    Translation:

I wanted to leave but they wouldn't pay me what I wanted.

I will now wait till they sack me and pay me a hefty severance package.

That has to be bullshit man - someone said recently he wanted to leave to go and win trophies there and it was all about that and nothing to do with the £5000000000 a year he was getting for it

Good bloke and personality, clearly not so much a manager.

He’s ideal Sky/BT Sport fodder. That’s him now I’d imagine.

He won’t need the money, as has been said!
