Houghton has been sacked...(silly seagulls) Never saw that coming. Perhaps we should have waited. but I expect SLF didn't see that coming either Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
'' It seems very harsh as I thought he did rather well in keeping Brighton up. Even if he were available earlier, I do not think that he would be interested in us, or if we could afford him.
Has anyone done the Warburton/decent crumpet at QPR gag yet? Not sure what Brighton are doing sacking Houghton but when you look at the "who on earth?!!" managers Twatford and Wolves have had fantastic successes with maybe the Seagulls owners think there are other alternatives to our home grown merry-go-round of managers.
Crikey! Chris Houghton and somebody called Houghton sacked by Brighton in the same day. What are the chances?
Perhaps we should have waited, Vern? Nah, somebody told me that was a daft idea a little while back. You never saw that coming? I did! I said as much on the ‘McClaren sacked’ thread. Hughton is a decent manager and, from what I can see, also a decent man. Brighton are mad to sack him after what he’s done there. Keeping a team with Brighton’s resources in the PL is no mean feat. Just look at Cardiff. Just look at QPR. Many others. The team that snaps him up will be all the better for it. Meanwhile, Brighton will go for some ‘glamour’ continental nobody, throw a transfer budget bigger than the GDP of Burkina Faso at him, then watch him **** up by Crimble.
Re Houghton's sacking maybe I'm on my own here but I thought their performance in the last half hour yesterday was a disgrace....at 3-1 down yes they were always likely to lose but they treated it as if it were a testimonial game, no pressing, no urgency to get the ball back a press for a 2nd goal to try and put pressure on city , it was quite a shameful surrender.....
Ollie seems to think he's a good fit for the club..... 2019 QPR Podcast Live! Part One by West Twelve Media on SoundCloud - Hear the world’s sounds https://m.soundcloud.com/west-twelve-media/2019-qpr-podcast-live-part-one Quite scathing in his opinion of Schteeeve though - no love lost between those two. Some grear stories in the first hour, especially how Bircham seems to be at fault for a feud with Stoke, and how Ollie hardly touched the ball when we destroyed Man Utd in THAT game
So it seems we have a 12 week window now to make decisions on who we are keeping, who we are letting go, who we are buying and any (last minute it would seem) loan deals. August 8th and incoming players us all over; then loans out to League 1 and 2 clubs for other players not likely to be needed in the squad. Lots of talk about trimming the squad size, so it will be interesting to see how we go. Over to Les, Lee and Mark to pull rabbits out of hats!
I very often do not agree with what supporters say about Managers and Players on Forums. But it seems many Brighton fans are not upset Hughton is on his way. Boring, boring football trying to park the bus, and hope they got a break, plus only 3 wins in 23 is similar to McClaren and few seemed upset he was sacked. Absolutely no fight back against City Sunday either.. .
Kept his team in the PL for a third season. I wish we had a manager that could do that. I’d take boring for a few years.
Bang on, mate. In fact, I'd take a boring old fart, a butt ugly one at that ................ oh, sorry ............ we already had Redknapp.
Warburton's first press conference is happening now ... ''I'm really excited to be here, hearing the owners' plans for the club and how I can hopefully play my role in reaching their vision.'' ''I know exactly what we can and can’t do in terms of players. We’ll need to use the transfer market wisely and see where that takes us.'' ''We’ll be active in the market, looking at players young and old. You need experience in this division but you want hungry, young players as well so we need to get the balance right.'' ''We understand what we need to do to give this club a solid foundation. We need to do right for the long term.'' ''I’m looking forward to working with the staff here. I know all about John [Eustace]'s standards and I’ve known Neil [Banfield] for a long time.'' ''I want to give the fans clarity about what we’re trying to do here. Our job is to make sure they enjoy supporting their club.'' ''We have to create an environment that's the best it can be for the players. I hope we can create that and the players can respond.'' ''Everyone knows what a tough division the SkyBetChamp is but I’m really excited about taking this club forward.''
