I agree, City have a quality squad with brilliant players that have performed. However them winning things and the manner of how they have got there, just doesn't sit right. At least when Man U and Arse were winning things, as much as I hated it, at least they had got there in the right way.
Do you understand just how silly those two statements sound together mate. You have the funds (in spades) to strengthen your squad in the summer. At some point it becomes a level playing field PROVIDED you have a very good manager. And you do.
Not everyone is going down the bad sports path My major beef would still be with inconsistent refereeing if i was gonna moan but well happy with league this season and i am the pessimistic one, funnily jaffa normally is too and we are both fairly at ease with it all. I would loathe it if there was a points reduction for City. Lengthy transfer ban meh I just dont see the issue with the money thing Unless of course they are paying the refs lmao
What is sad is the amount of people who have not come on to discuss how well the the best team in the country and its nearest rivals did this past season, they have come to gloat at ‘failure’ And argue over finance, strange on a football board There not been many speaking up for last few months Now if we could get back to discussing the Mane red against city i will be very happy.
Not everyone, and maybe those who are, are only doing so because it's still quite raw. We've been there in 2012 on GD I can't comment on the quality of refereeing tbh. I can quote offside goals for City and fouls not given, but then also quote handball not given prior to Livpl scoring and the dodgy free kick against Newcastle. That's not taking sides at all, just saying I've not counted who's been favoured more than the other. Yeh you don't want to win it that way. But I do believe they can only buy so many players before it doesn't impact any more on how good they already are. What's far more important is how much more Liverpool can strengthen. As an outsider looking in, you need to add depth to the squad so that on any given day your 11 on the pitch can outdo City. Is there a problem with funding that at Liverpool? Not at all. Do you have a manager who will buy the right players, yes (unfortunately, he says through gritted teeth). Now... I'm going to scrub the hands that have typed this with a brillo pad and cry into a tall glass of JD and coke for the state of my team
We didn't buy Fekir because we obeyed FFP rules and chose Alisson instead. Any time City want a player they just sent an email to Etihad Airways saying their sponsorship deal has just gone up again. If the PL and UEFA decide FFP doesn't matter than please as least hurry up about it and let the rest of us know before the next transfer window closes.
Yep totally agree with all that. What about your boys next year This one has clearly been a write off And I personally don’t read to much into the matches after exiting the CL A’s season was dead. Obviously a lot of work to be done but any of that top six could challenge City next season imho Where do you think you need to sort first ?
The league was 'lost' if you want to call it that on home form . Both teams away gained 44 points but on home Liverpool were W17 D 2 Man City were W18 L1
Not really much to change next season for Liverpool IMO. How do you top this season? Keep playing as they are and surely they have to win a PL title eventually
That's it. Their team has resisted the pressure we put on them. We've been superb but we missed out because of draws we shouldn't have had. I still cannot work out how we couldn't beat a really dreadful manc side. Had we done that we would have rebuilt the momentum and be at the front. We were 1 point short. We had the least defeats, the most clean sheets, the least goals conceded and 97 points record for runners up. But runners up we are. We are still waiting after 29 years. No hiding the fact. The CL will be a great consolation.
I really wouldn’t worry about it When I was young I used to collect panini stickers I was in the doss end of Burnley and so never ever got even close to finishing my album My cousins used to have a fair amount of cash and used to boast at how easily they filled the album - little ****s ! I used to concentrate on swopping with everyone just to complete the Liverpool pages. By the time time we had both completed our pages we had the same amount of stickers on those pages - but more importantly mine were stuck in neatly and always looked better. Took me longer but the final result was better
Shame the season didn’t end the way we would have hoped but it shouldn’t mask what has been a truly remarkable year for the club. Feeling incredible proud of these players and manager, and I’m excited to see how we will go into next season.
In all honesty it's unrealistic for us to be trying to do it all in one go and pretend we can challenge for the title. Stage 1 - we need to be good enough to finish Top 4, aim for a domestic trophy at best, AND personally that we're better than the other three e.g. Arsenal, Spurs and Chavs. So address the areas of the team/squad to achieve that. At least 1 quality CB, 1 quality RB, a creative midfielder and it seems we're getting James for the LW. So at this stage 4 players minimum imo should be enough. The idea of buying 6/7/8 players is pie in the sky and a big risk as well imo. Hopefully we'll be giving chances to a couple from the academy as well.
