Note the Spurs employee rushing in there to record the whole conversation
(not clear as to whether was to avoid "out of context" hack reporting after
the event or to ensure the DOF doesn't have a gobshite episode) .

Not bad but certainly not as good as a lot of people (and themselves) think they are. Benefited greatly from having four great songs on the same album, and struggled to match that quality after. Later benefited from the infighting and general arseholeness of them all, making them prominent in the media regardless of their music.

The thing that always amused me was the quote I've seen several times that Gallagher says how great Slade were, when the only opinion that I would be interested in is whether Noddy Holder (proper legend) thinks Oasis are any good.

What ultimately gets me is that, for years, people said that Noel was being held back by Liam being too lazy to step outside their comfort zone of indie pub stodge, yet when they finally went their separate ways Noel decided to spread his wings by...having band who sounded exactly the ****ing same as Oasis

What makes me laugh is that Noel, when accepting a Brit award from Michael Hutchence for What's the Story... said, "Has-beens should not be presenting awards to gonna-be's." That was the last half-decent thing Oasis or Noel ever recorded. Unlike INXS, they never really made it big in the US. Don't know what the fuss about them is all about. One-trick pony!

I am going defend Noel, I won't dispute that he is a bit of tit at times, and his ego may exceed his actual ability, but lets be honest he is not the first person from the music business that you could level that at. Even if he had never made another record the 1st two Oasis albums already stand the test of time and deserve a place at musics top table.

As for his football views he is a fan and wears his heart on is sleeve, no one here can really be critical of him for that.

As for this clip anyone who nods to the Rutles when doing a Beatles cover is ok by me.

As my mother said to me, they were lucky to have their time when
John Lennon was not alive, as he would have torn them to pieces in
public over their blatant plagiarism and lack of originality.

And on the first front, I remember a Frank Skinner interview where he
slapped Noel Gallagher on how he had stolen lyrics from a kids TV
show (he was also caught have stolen lyrics from The Heptones
"Book of rules" - a quite well known reggae song) .

On the other hand, Ian Brown was definitely alive and should've had a few words about Oasis not just nicking their sound, but Liam Gallagher LARPing his entire onstage persona

I am not sure bit of plagiarism is the worst offence in the world. There is hardly a band in the world that hasn't at some point used their love of the music of a previous generation to make their own 'new' music.

As for Lennon, I think that he would have been quite happy to see his music living on in the music of others, and I am sure that there are plenty of people who discovered Lennons and The Beatles music through the Gallaghers as I did through Weller before them.
