As I live in ever more cramped circumstances (CD's ... DVD's ....Books) my lounge and bedroom TV's (Linsar) are both on the rather small side. I would however add that my appreciation of the female form tends to emanate from my even smaller laptop screen...... are you with me!?!

Kenny, I watched 'The Looming Tower' on Amazon Prime several months ago. Very good too, but I will hold any opinions I have on this CIA s.o.b.until after you've seen final episode.

So Spurs now have the accolade of the best comeback in a champions league semi final since................last night. Bravo Spurs.

In the interests of balance I must also congratulate Tottenham Hotspur for a second consecutive thrilling night's football leading to their visit to Madrid for the European Champion's League final.
A quandary arises; which club do I want to win the final. My fondness for and the likability of Jurgen Klopp moves me towards Liverpool however the early 1960's were the era where my interest in association football exploded. Every Christmas brought three 'annuals'; either 'The Broons' or 'Oor Wullie', The Scottish Football Book and The Topical Times Football Book. The third of these volumes contained brilliant colour full page images of players who represented English First Division clubs and, even more exotic, photographs of the tanned stars from the Spanish and Italian leagues. For information my first non Scottish football 'hero' was Gianni Rivera of AC Milan. I digress so back to the point; over the years there were also photographs of two Scottish players who played for 'Spurs'. The first had been signed from Heart of Midlothian and who, in my opinion, is the greatest Scottish player ever (f**k the balance) .... Dave Mackay and the second was, in my late father's opinion who died in 1983, was one of the three greatest British players ever ...... John White. These historic reasons drag my favour towards Spurs. I suppose I could spend the evening of Saturday 1st June as a neutral however any follower of football knows this is next to impossible!
While dozing and listening to forty five minutes on BBC Radio 4 about the Philosophy of Time proposed by Henri Bergson I also considered the following:
Will this be the first Champion's League final where three situations are appropriate to each of the deserved competitors.
1. Neither club was their domestic league champion in the year of qualification.
2. Neither club may (?) be the domestic league champion in the year of the tournament.
and most importantly
3. Neither club was top of their Qualifying Group.
I would venture that this makes the European Champion's League the truest and closest to the ideal of a 'Cup' competition anywhere on the planet.
I will close by thanking the authors of and contributors to The Topical Times Football Book for the background information on a young lad from Munich who played for the losing side in the 1966 World Cup Final. My life has been richer and more rewarding for this knowledge.

I'll be in London on the weekend of the final of the 'DFB Pokal' so I hope to find a rub-a-dub in the vicinity of King's Cross/St Pancras or The Angel with BT Sport showing the match where I can let rip for up to one hundred and fifty minutes. I trust my abnormal, over the top and, to individuals who do not know me, unexplainable behaviour in support of a German Football club will not cause any discomfort to other patrons in the licensed establishment I view the game.
Should I pack an appropriate polo shirt and baseball cap for this evening on the lash in 'The Big Smoke'?

I 'hit' 65 on Saturday!
Although Hearts have been my team (as with your good self through my father) I have always had a soft spot for Dundee due to their Navy Blue tops. One of my first games at Tynecastle was a 1 - 7 drubbing from a Dundee side which included the brilliant Charlie Cooke. This tanking cost The Jambos to lose the First Division title to Kilmarnock on goal average!
Although still a regular home and away supporter at Heart Of Midlothian games from 1966 my interest in FC Bayern Munchen had been sown and this flowered in 1974 when FCB defeated the dirty c**ts of Athletico Madrid in the European Cup Final 4 - 0 in a replay which took place TWO days after the first game. We must have been the only house in Scotland who watched this match on the TV instead of a Scotland international game the same night!

No, just wear your Lederhosen, etc., and then change at half-time to full kilt and sporran. You will be quite a hit in the "Smoke" pub you are in, I can assure you. The other customers will be a bit confused though, I would imagine?
