You know that's not what I'm saying.
We all discuss events during and after a match including chances created, possession etc, but I don't see how it can be used to spell out expected goals on the following match as that's not how sport works.
We make predictions before a match. For example, I say tonight the score will be 2-1 to Liverpool. I might just base that on recent form for both teams, how they're set up, players missing etc. But if it ends up being 2-2 or 3-1 to Barca and I turn around and say NO! That's wrong because I expected it to be 2-1 so there must be something wrong with the result - then you'd be entitled to think I was being a tad delusional and you'd be right.
I was there
Was on my mates stag do and we were extremely close to leaving at half time. One of the best nights of my life. Still got the tickets... worth a few quid so I hear.
5/1 on BTTS in the opening half an hour.
I’ve had a go at that.

I'm sure the tickets are worth a few quid, the number of people who claim to have been there is nuts (not saying you weren't ofc). Honestly yet to meet a single Liverpool fan who didn't go and I've met a lot!
Amazing how all of those who ****ed off at HT have never shared their story either.I'm sure the tickets are worth a few quid, the number of people who claim to have been there is nuts (not saying you weren't ofc). Honestly yet to meet a single Liverpool fan who didn't go and I've met a lot!

It’s subjective bollocks. Stats fine, subjective interpretation of stats presented as fact, stick it up your arse.Expeted goals xG is not a prediction, it's a measure of chances that actually happened in the game.
If you say "he missed two sitters", that means xG=2. If you say "that was a half chance", that means xG=0.5. If you say "he should have had a hat-trick" that means xG=3.

Eh? What you talking bout Willis? You've seen my tickets![]()

You're clearly suggesting I'm not telling the truth??
It’s a bit like making Harold Shipman the health secretary and wondering why things aren’t running so smoothly.
No, I'm not saying you're lying, I'm not aiming it at any particular individual. There were thousands there and plenty of fans will truthfully say they were, and should rightly be proud of their team - as a neutral it was a great match/result (as a Liverpool fan it must have been amazing). I'm just saying that having spent more than a decade in Liverpool there's a lot of cache in fans saying they were there and as a result it's almost not allowed for a Liverpool fan to say they didn't go.
It may have been the same with Utd fans after Barca '99 but I wasn't in Manchester for the few years after that so can't compare. It's kind of funny really, I never ask if Liverpool fans went I just assume they'll tell me they did.
Expeted goals (xG) is not a prediction, it's a measure of chances that actually happened in the game.
If you say "he missed two sitters", that means xG=2.
If you say "that was a half chance", that means xG=0.5.
If you say "he should have had a hat-trick" that means xG=3.
If you say "he had no right to score from there" that means xG=0 even though he did.
xG just counts the chances, whether they actually go in or not.

Anything that is subjective fails to be a stat imo, who decides what constitutes a chance/half chance etc.
