Mate according to the expected goals stats they were fortunate to beat us and also Tottenham. I think they are only quoted if it somehow backs up your feelings of being wronged. We had more shots than them and almost twice as many shots on target but I didn't hear the same fans going on about that. They scored 3, we scored 2 so the result was 3-2. All that matters in the end.
I'm sure the tickets are worth a few quid, the number of people who claim to have been there is nuts (not saying you weren't ofc). Honestly yet to meet a single Liverpool fan who didn't go and I've met a lot!
Expeted goals (xG) is not a prediction, it's a measure of chances that actually happened in the game. If you say "he missed two sitters", that means xG=2. If you say "that was a half chance", that means xG=0.5. If you say "he should have had a hat-trick" that means xG=3. If you say "he had no right to score from there" that means xG=0 even though he did. xG just counts the chances, whether they actually go in or not.
It’s subjective bollocks. Stats fine, subjective interpretation of stats presented as fact, stick it up your arse.
No, I'm not saying you're lying, I'm not aiming it at any particular individual. There were thousands there and plenty of fans will truthfully say they were, and should rightly be proud of their team - as a neutral it was a great match/result (as a Liverpool fan it must have been amazing). I'm just saying that having spent more than a decade in Liverpool there's a lot of cache in fans saying they were there and as a result it's almost not allowed for a Liverpool fan to say they didn't go. It may have been the same with Utd fans after Barca '99 but I wasn't in Manchester for the few years after that so can't compare. It's kind of funny really, I never ask if Liverpool fans went I just assume they'll tell me they did.
Anyway, final comment for a while (want to finish work before getting too distracted here) I do still hope for a Liverpool-Tottenham final so I'll be supporting a couple of underdogs the next couple of nights Good luck.
I think I'm the only person on our board that went tbf. No One else said they did when we discussed it. Either way it was a final that we didn't expect to win, I'm just lucky it was possibly the best CL game ever.
Anything that is subjective fails to be a stat imo, who decides what constitutes a chance/half chance etc.
Which is kind of fair enough. But that's sport Astro, doesn't mean you can feel hard done by if you don't end up converting those chances or that the score is somehow incorrect. Always say, if you don't score you have no argument for saying you deserved to win. Because it's a split second when you couldn't score, of which you have another 5399 to do so and you still couldn't. It's like 2005 Cup final. We battered Arsenal for 90 minutes. Should've/Could've/Would've won, but didn't score so in the end when we lost on pens I had no qualms at all. We didn't deserve it.
