It means absolutely nothing. Testing times need to be taken with a large pinch of salt at the best of times, but they're meaningless when they're set in last year's car. Interestingly, Hamilton is two seconds down on the time he set in Valencia last year using the same car. Depending on who you listen to downforce levels are expected to be similar or less than last season. I suspect the slower times are down to the weaker Pirellis and the increased weight.

Agree with you there glorious, times don`t mean alot. But in the light of day three Jenson went a second quicker than hammy so I don`t think it`s down to tyres but could be fuel loads etc.

It was pretty skillfull but like lewisWDC says, not altogether beyond the scope of any of the drivers really. Don`t quite see how the Baron is gonna win the WDC when he`s quated as saying that the Pirrelis are like driving on ice.
No doubt he is an all time F1 great but without a car he can drive what can he do?

That's the Michael I want to see starting March...
Maybe I'll be disappointed or maybe what I have been waiting for will become reality...
About a month left guys, we are all backing a different driver for different reasons...let the battle commence.

I think it's fair to give Felipe the first two days - as he faced the reliability problems in his only day of testing, and deserves that time. I think giving a driver two consecutive days to test is better then missing a day in between testing - so im surprised that McLaren have adopted this approach.

I'm assuming that the final two days of testing for Lotus Renault GP will have either Liuzzi, Heidfeld, Senna in the car - although Renault might get Petrov in the car, for the sake of aero tests, etc.

Good to see Karun Chandhok and Daniel Ricciardo taking part. Certianly in Ricciardo's case, if he drives better then the 2 contracted drivers, he could get a full time race seat - and this wouldn't surprise me based on Helmut Marko's recent comments: "Algersuari is talented, Buemi must improve, Ricciardo will be in F1"

Massa has set the fastest time today with a margin over his rivals yet the BBC have gone with the headline of 'Lewis Hamilton tries out new McLaren in Jerez F1 test'. Its a bit ignorent of the fact that not all its readers are fans of Lewis. bit of a biased point of view <doh><doh><doh>
