Wow!!!!! Dusan has managed something like 34 goals in his first season at Ajax and 19 assists. That is an incredible buy for them. I know Dusan was a bit marmite on this forum, and I certainly didn't like his antics but I am thrilled that he has done so well and thank him for performing at the end of last season, just wish he had at Saints.
It’s been a perfect storm for him this season - given a free role in the centre of an excellent front three, in a less physical league with a lower standard of football its allowed him to hit red hot form. He’s carried that form along with his undoubted ability into the Champions League, including that ridiculous performance against Madrid away. Will always be one of my favourite Saints players - I’m delighted for him.
I must admit there was times when I would've happily driven him to another club ... and there was times I couldve named my potential first born son after him. I think he was one of the players who suffered the most from Puel and Pellegrino and their style of football, so I'll choose to remember the koeman era tadic, and the tadic who pretty much kept us up last year. Glad to see him doing so well
He was a player who loved assists as much as goals...so loved playing when we were doing well, but lost heart when we started playing depressing football. A very good player, but not sure he was quite right when your back is against a wall. He wanted to leave and was allowed to...glad he's enjoying his football again.
I think we`d have been relegated last season if it wasn`t for his performances and attitude in the last few games. Or is that my rose tinted specs ? I hope he goes all the way with Ajax.
MP2 might have two of his old players in the champions league final. And he ****ed it up. What a pleb.
' Dusan Tadic ! ' Totally agree, Dusan gave us some incredible moments, like scoring the winner at Old Trafford right down in front of us and him and us all celebrating like mad mush's ! Will always have fond memories of him.
Indeed he was, is, and will remain. I remember when I watched him play one game for Saints and you might remember I said he was the most 'head-up' footballer I'd seen in years. Playing like that and maintaining precise ball control meant that his vision for teammates making runs here and there was unmatched. And when he had teammates around him who were on the same wavelength he was virtually unplayable. He used to get cheesed off because refs wouldn't protect him and the quality of his teammates reduced as Saints were cherry-picked or moved on. But yeah, awesome player. He's the sort of player Saints should be getting back to looking for.
I do and I nearly added “head up” in my post. Some Fans would moan we he held onto the ball, but that would be giving us some great relieve from any pressure.
He’s the same with Ajax as he was with us, in that he needs the ball played in to him, and options around him, in order to shine. He is not the sort of player to create something out of nothing, but when the team clicks, everything comes from him. For about 30 minutes of the second half, when Ajax allowed Tottenham to dictate the pace and rhythm of the game, it was easy to forget he was on the pitch. Then on one of the rare occasions that half, when Ajax got the ball down and played their close passing game, he set up Neres with the chance that nearly sealed the tie.
