Bad ref decisions.

there were 2 or three possible Norwich pens yesterday that were not given, and normally I'd just take it on the chin, but to turn those down and then give the one he did beggars belief!!!!

That said, we need to be much nastier. We had the chances yesterday to have wrapped up the game easily. Lets not let bad refereeing decisions cloud our opinions of games. We should have won yesterday with or without the penalties. Our downfall was not the referee, it was our inability to finish off good positions. Too many times shots were taken when with a bit more vision a pass could have been made to a player in a better position. And how many of our shots were off-target? You don't scored if you don't hit the target!

I am worried that our disagreements with referees is becoming an excuse for not winning. I can just see the local headlines come May "Plucky Norwich cheated out of the prem by refs".

Lets not wollow in self pitty and anger against the establishment, it is time for our team to go out there and win some football matches even if they do have to take on the ref as well.

If I am honest, I think it WILL happen most weeks. It is not right, but it is the way things will be I'm afraid. I just hope it doesn't turn into our excuse for relegation.

I don't think it will be used as an excuse unless ALL these decisions are game changing as they were in the 1st 3 games.

As I said last night, David Fox is the man to unlock defences with that killer pass - but who gets sacrificed to enable him to play? For me it has to be either Crofts or Johnson?

I don't think it will be used as an excuse unless ALL these decisions are game changing as they were in the 1st 3 games.

I know. We couls have easily had a couple of penalties yesterday.There were a couple of challenges on Norwich forwards that were Far Far worse than the decision that was actually given!! Is that not game changing?

Problem with those 'incidents' is they were not stonewall, the same as the Baggies penalty wasn't, they were comparable but no more than that.
It's left to the referee and his 'assistants' who are rarely consulted, so I would say it was not game changing as we were already 1-0 down and never looking likely scoring.

No worries, squire. There are a fair few threads doing the rounds yesterday and today - as you might expect after the first four matches of the season and four penalties conceeded.

I may pop into my local BetFred next week to see what odds they'll offer on us NOT conceeding a pen and finishing the match with eleven players on the park

I can't believe that Tamas is likely to get away with that elbow, surely with the video replay the FA should act against him. He clearly took a look at where Vaughan was and then POW. If that happened in the street it's a serious assault or possibly ABH. I think City/Vaughan would be well within their rights to call in the police and I certainly would be looking at it should the FA not act on a bringing the game into disrepute charge

Someone would need to prove intent I would imagine, that might not be so easy to do even looking at the replays.
I thought it was intentional but my opinion is not enough to bring about an FA charge unfortunately.

As was said at the time even if he didn't mean it (yeah right) no one should be swinging elbows about like that anyway so perhaps intent is partially irrelevant after all if you sneeze whilst driving and hit someones car you'd still cop it for it if the police were involved the lower charge reflecting the lack of intent but you'd still get done (ok not worded brilliantly but i'm eating my lunch at work so don't care lol).

In short there ought to be at the least a rollocking with instruction to be more bloomin careful in future at the LEAST

Totally agree. There was absolutely no reason why he should be swinging his elbows about like that. He wasn't jumping for a header after all. Remember, Vaughan caught Tamas moments before, so there was definite retribution there.

I would hope Roy Hodgson takes him to one side as gives him a stern lecture despite him saying he thought it was an accident for the cameras and press. Deep down I think he knows it perhaps was not accidental at all but cannot say it publicly of course.

Christ you lot like to whinge. Regards the elbow, Tamas was jumping (i.e. not moving left,right, forwards or backwards) Vaughan ran towards Tamas from behind. So unless Tamas has the ability to mind control vaughan into running towards him, there is no case to answer.

If anything Vaughan should be charge for biting an opponent!

How can somebody not moving be charged because some numpty decide to run into his elbow from behind! On the TV you can clearly see Vaughan goes in recklessly for the header, if he gets a gob full of elbow thats his problem.

as someone myself who had his cheekbone fractured by a flailing elbow - though i must admit in my case it was accidental - i can tell you that what tamas did yesterday was nothing short of GBH. had it happened outside a nightclub he'd still be sitting in his prison cell. everyone knows that its impossible not to jump and get good purchase without using your elbows to gain extra height - you can't stop players get jabbed by elbows. however, you can stop players aiming them violently in a circular motion straight into the face of a fellow player. tamas knew exactly what he was doing and the end result could have been even more disturbing than it eventually was. the poor kid has now got to have plastic surgery to correct his lip. i find your attempts at 'comedy' on this subject vile and immature and maybe you would react slightly differently had something similar happened to you. it was a disgraceful incident and seeing it so close up as i did left me feeling sick.
