2 years was always mentioned back in the summer of 2017 ... this would've happened regardless, in my opinion.

Krueger leaving and the DOF post not being filled yet speaks to my optimistic side as a plan. Let's leave my pessimistic side out of it. <laugh>

Krueger may very well have wanted to leave after the end of his contract on the 30th June...jobs can get stale, just like people. It probably seemed like an adventure when he moved sideways from one sport to another, but he may have something else on the horizon now. Things probably just fell into place.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in NHL in the relatively near future.

He will have loads of contacts and 6 years as Chairman of an EPL club won't have done any harm.

0His long rambles may have been frustrating at times, but I do think Ralph saw the value in more open and more frequent communications with the fans

You can’t ask him not to get involved with football given his NHL background and then blame him for what happened on the pitch. The only time he really got involved was the appointment of Ralph H which hasn’t really turned out too bad.

    That's sad, I liked him.
I don't care very much what the future leadership structure looks like, or what it does. Just that we have one.

On a popularity front he blew it for most with that throw away "small Club" remark.

As far as most fans can tell he didn't do anything particularly wrong, but he didn't seem to do anything at all.

£650,000 off the annual wage bill if nothing else.

Yeah, I always kind of defended Krueger because people were always blaming him for the club sucking when they don't even know what he does. By the same token thought, that means I'm not really sure that losing Krueger is a big deal since we don't know what he does.

I think that he probably served mainly in an administrative role and advisory capacity to KL behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly. Kind of organized the power structure and communication between sections. Which means that if Gao is going to switch up things up how things work at the club (which might be a good idea), Krueger is no longer needed. To the extent that Krueger was supposed to sell the club, I haven't seen that much change. No one in the US knows or cares about Southampton still, despite that UA agreement. Gao will likely see the big opportunity is to market to China and he would have the better contacts and knowledge.

It basically seems like the club has decided to go in a whole new direction, most likely because Gao has decided to be more active. What that direction is and whether Gao can pull it off is still a question. But on the whole, we had to do something so I'm looking at all of this with cautious optimism.
