My Dad and myself travelled down to Peterborough today, and in all of the grounds we have travelled to have we come across such helpful and friendly staff and stewards.

As we arrived by car a member of staff from Peterborough helpfully suggested to us the best place to park, no grunts, no moans, no objections, just guidance with a friendly smile!!

As we approached the ground it was nice to see a very joyful programme seller, but the pleasant manners did not stop there! As we continued to walk towards the ground a steward noticed that my Dad had a white cane (He is totally blind) and approached us both asking if we were ok, and whether we would like him to organise for my dad to have a commentary through some headphones, I actually commentate for my dad at football matches so we did not require this service, however all the same it was very nice to be offered it, even before we were in the ground!!

As we were travelling around the perimeter of the ground another steward again asked us if we were ok. As we were waiting to go into the ground the same steward approached us again and introduced us to another steward who then insisted on us going through a separate entrance so my dad did not have to go up to the steps. Can I just say at this point the stewards were not patronising, and merely being extremely helpful. My dad is actually very independent, and very mobile and in all honesty did not need all of this extra attention, however the stewards did not know this, and just went above and beyond.

Whilst in the ground another steward came up to us both and had a genuinely friendly chat with us. And on leaving the ground even the police officers gave us a smile!! The opposing fans were friendly and opened up in conversation.

May I thank all of the staff, stewards and fans from Peterborough for making us feel very welcome, other clubs, including our own should follow your suit as it is these people that help to break down the barriers of animosity between supporters.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

interesting you mention the police, on leaving the ground i thought we where at millwall..a crowd of less then 10,000 at a place there is no rivalry that i know of, and you couldnt move for them..slight overkill <laugh>..
we swapped our seating tickets for standing with no fuss, which i thought was good , ive been to several places in the past, where i know they wouldnt have done it just for the sake of it.

Great to hear, my friend is a Posh fan - a real sport too, texted me after the game with congrats and said he "had anticipated Mclean would score", that's what Darren Ferguson said too.. collective spirit then!

I've never heard a bad word about Peterborough.

Fully agree with the original posters comments, everyone we met /spoke to today was incredibly cheerful, polite and most of all helpful.

Hats off to the Posh, a really nice set of people.

Fair play to the Posh .

I also don't think the stewards over reacted when they ejected the tit who ran on the pitch when we scored .

They just hoyed him out of the ground and I don't think they even got the old bill involved .

The bloke was a bit of a cock anyway and got what he probably deserved .

Nice club Peterborough. Though on the arrival of the coaches it was as if the stewards had never seen a coach before. Instead of been allowed to park next to the away end, (like the last time we were there) the coaches were directed away from the ground and told to park next to a Matalan store down a side street. The store looked as though it had been closed for seveal years and the side street was right next to a derelict area full of bricks and iron bars..... Not a good idea Peterborough if you get a load of nutters turning up and intent on kicking off.

The stewards were very good, one came over to me when I walked out onto the stand and told me it a 'no pie stand' and offered to relieve me of my pastie, while licking his lips and laughing his head off. Another asked me if me if I was looking forward to the game and what I thought the score would be. The police weren't so clever, there were several videoing the away supporters for the entire game, looking like they were expecting the riots to start again.

Note to Posh - Get some bloody beer, I was gagging for a pint. <ok>

I thought the Police were very friendly.

Well the one we got a lift to the match, after we crashed on the outskirts of Peterborough, was.

I tried to get the ticket office to switch that free seat ticket I got outside the ground yesterday, but they wouldn't change it, as it was a 'complimentary club' ticket. I nearly didn't use and went to pay for the terracing, but I saw the person who gave me the ticket and felt guilty, so I went in seated instead. <laugh>
