My Dad and myself travelled down to Peterborough today, and in all of the grounds we have travelled to have we come across such helpful and friendly staff and stewards.
As we arrived by car a member of staff from Peterborough helpfully suggested to us the best place to park, no grunts, no moans, no objections, just guidance with a friendly smile!!
As we approached the ground it was nice to see a very joyful programme seller, but the pleasant manners did not stop there! As we continued to walk towards the ground a steward noticed that my Dad had a white cane (He is totally blind) and approached us both asking if we were ok, and whether we would like him to organise for my dad to have a commentary through some headphones, I actually commentate for my dad at football matches so we did not require this service, however all the same it was very nice to be offered it, even before we were in the ground!!
As we were travelling around the perimeter of the ground another steward again asked us if we were ok. As we were waiting to go into the ground the same steward approached us again and introduced us to another steward who then insisted on us going through a separate entrance so my dad did not have to go up to the steps. Can I just say at this point the stewards were not patronising, and merely being extremely helpful. My dad is actually very independent, and very mobile and in all honesty did not need all of this extra attention, however the stewards did not know this, and just went above and beyond.
Whilst in the ground another steward came up to us both and had a genuinely friendly chat with us. And on leaving the ground even the police officers gave us a smile!! The opposing fans were friendly and opened up in conversation.
May I thank all of the staff, stewards and fans from Peterborough for making us feel very welcome, other clubs, including our own should follow your suit as it is these people that help to break down the barriers of animosity between supporters.
Good luck for the rest of the season.
