Coffee shops primarily and other high volume low transaction value places like that.

Nothing worse than being stuck behind someone, usually female, who spends two minutes trying to count out the correct change. Reduces the chances of fraud, reduces the chances of staff being assaulted and there are general costs for any business that has to carry cash. It wouldn’t be right for every business but I can see why it works for certain places.

Most of the transactions in my business are cashless these days. I've got a card reader called iZettle that works off mobile signal, so don't even need to plug into a network either.

And what is it with women taking ages to find their purses and cards etc ? They've had generations of shopping experience behind them, yet always seem to wait until they are asked to pay, and then spend ages rummaging through bags to try and find their purse, which then has a hundred different compartments, in one of which contains the bank card they need.

Blokes just have their card in their hand ready.

Can't say i've come across any coffe shops, bars or other small eating places that have refused cash yet in London, not saying that none do, just saying i haven't visited any.

There is an argument that cashless society may benefit the less well off because you only pay for what you spend. You can only withdraw notes obviously at cashpoints and this provides a predisposition to spend it even you needed less. I do think though that cash should be accepted everywhere, what am I going to do with all my fake scottish £20 notes!

Think that works in theory but in reality there’s less of a psychological barrier when spending on a card or online, in my opinion. In a bookie, for example, chucking £20 in the machine feels more than when you just transfer £20 from a card to a betting account.

And yet it isn't completed. They still need to finish the trophy cabinet... no rush.

They’ve hired temporary accommodation for that, Safestore are doing them a great deal, £1.50 per week to store 0 cubic metres of nothing for the next 10 years.

Just been having a look at the pics of the new WHL on the BBC Sport site ... fair play to Spurs, it's quite stunning and as someone who did Architecture as part of A Level Art (many years ago now), I am happy to concede that, for me, it eclipses The Emirates, Antfield and Old Triffid in terms of structural impressiveness ..

... obviously it doesn't guarantee success on the pitch .... but what a venue to play in <cheers>
