which one will create the best civil war? Meanwhile, here in Serbia, the riots are progressing nicely with the right wing taking over the left wing protests. I have an inkling that humans are pretty ****!
In very general terms, we’re not a very nice mammal. Just like Agent Smith said to Mr Annndersonnn in The Matrix!

Actually can a speaker decide this?? I am not saying I favour another vote in the commons. However I’m doubtful a speaker can dictate what they can and can’t vote on can he?? Strewth things get stranger and stranger........

Indeed they do. The problem stems from the fact that UK plc has been set up in a sort of ramshackle way with nods and winks. Other countries have a clear constitution and there would be no need for any of us to ponder on what happens next. Throw into that the fact that the issue is critical and highly divisive and we have a recipe for disaster.

If this shambles has shown us anything it is that what we thought was the case - that we have a parliamentary democracy - has been shown to be smoke and mirrors. HM Govt, and in particular the PM and Cabinet, has been shown to be the centre of power.

God only knows when the dust will settle on this issue. Let's not pretend that if St Theresa's deal sails through and/or we leave next week (?gulp?) then it'll all be hunky dory. But when we have a quiet moment, we, the people, should demand that our parliament set up a widely drawn group to establish a coherent constitution. We need Magna Carta II and we need it now!

He's got the rule book on his side as a defeated motion cannot be brought back without change in the same parliamentary session. This ruling goes back to 1604. That Cliff edge is getting closer.

Now that is something that I have been saying strangely since my teens. Love a duck I can’t remember why but just that something similar must have come up to trigger that memory..........

If you want to have a vote on this wretched business now we know what's actually on offer, now the unicorns promised by Vote Leave have vanished like a silent fart in a breeze, please consider attending the People's Vote march next Saturday.

https://www.peoples-vote.uk/march

I went on the last one (as did others on here); the march helped to move a second referendum from something mentioned only in jest to something being taken seriously.

I went alone last time - it was a good day surrounded by kind, generous and gentle people in extremely good humour, so don't be afraid if it's just you. In fact, if you're going alone, I'd be happy to meet up for a breakfast somewhere or other.

It's probably our last chance to try to get this utter ****show stopped.

If you go and help to push Parliament to give us a say on the deal then I can say, without any sarcasm, that it will be a ****ing triumph!

There are stories circulating that Theresa will meddle with the “session” as in seeking to end this session early and starting a new session to get around this.
On Newsnight they were suggesting that the DUP might be close to backing May’s deal (kerching £££££?) which would substantially change things enough to allow another vote.
Either way it stinks of desperation and corruption, IMO.

The whole thing is desperation and corruption. A handful of DUP supporters (who aren’t even a majority in their own country) holding the whole of the U.K. to ransom for money? And those idiot Brexiteers say we need our own control and not give in to an unelected body.

What a ****ing triumph indeed ..... :emoticon-0121-angry:emoticon-0121-angry:emoticon-0121-angry

Interesting item on Jeremy Vine's show on Radio 2 about tax avoidance of the wealthy right now...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_two

Starts at about 12:35

It's claiming that if all the correct tax that is collected from rich individuals and corporations then most of the World's problems like poverty and the climate could be eradicated.

The book is called Utopia for Realists.

Yes he can. And speakers have used this rule around 20 times since 1604. It's intended to stop the government trying to bully Parliament into voting for something by asking time and time again.

I find it extremely odd that I, a random bloke on the internet, noticed Bercow telegraphing the use of this rule last week in the House yet the front benches of this government (and the front pages of the press) are acting all surprised, like.

I've just seen that Andrea Leadsom is going head-to-head with John Bercow over this.

Now, if ever there were to be any doubt, I know what side to take on this one.

Some legal chap on Twitter - can't remember who, said yesterday that every time throughout history that the executive took on Parliament, Parliament won. Let's hope, eh?

Thing is, I feel sorry for the poor dupes out walking. They believe in what they are doing but they've been utterly taken in by Farage about this march. And didn't he look happy at the kick-off? Look at his body language (he'd reckoned he might get 100,000 people out) and watch to the end; it's tragicomic.

However, away from the jollity, as things stand then in ten days nine hours and 44 minutes we leave the EU with No Deal by the action of international law.
