Always liked Chris, and not just because he was a 'very nice man'. He's a good manager, and I'd have been happy at the time if he'd stayed. Not that I'm unhappy with the awesome set-up we have now, but thought he got a bum deal, and I was pretty fed up with the criticism he got.
He is a good manager but was a poor fit for us at the given time. Truly horrible football and he deserved the sack for it.
Those of us who wanted him out then won't change our minds, just as we can't erase the horrors of hootunball from our minds.
Bah!

I'm sorry, but I was NEVER a big fan of Wes - yes he could be brilliant on occasions, but he could only ever turn one way and got dispossessed on numerous occasions when he should have passed.
Bendy is a MASSIVE upgrade and the only thing on which I agree with the author of the article is that Bendy will go on to a bigger club in a few years, si we must enjoy watching him whilst he is still demonstrating his talent/skills at NR1.

Whilst I agree that Wes could sometimes frustrate, he's a leg end and great player for my money. He was integral to some if our best years and for me Bendy certainly looks to have the potential to be as good if not better. but it's too early to say for me.
Wes did it over several years for some managers better than others and at PL level too. Bendy has had 3/4 of a good season so Far having played at a previously pretty low level. He has much left to prove before being hailed as anything more than potentially better than Wes.
I believe he will prove to be better (2 footed and can shoot) but he's not there yet in my humble.

He wasn't as bad as others make him out to be imo, he had a great first season with us and that incredible 10 game unbeaten run. The way he was treated was a bit disgraceful.
He doffed his cap to every opposing team / manager and set us up with the sole intention of not losing - virtually no winning mentality, which eventually filters down to the players, and inevitably the fans.
I was never convinced that Neil Adams was the answer but Hughton should have gone much earlier while we still had a slim chance of survival.
But we did beat the Gooners during his tenure
Anyway, good luck to him at Brighton, just didn't work out / not a good fit at NCFC.

I’m with woodbine too tbh Cromer. Thought we (the fans) treated Hughton a little unfairly. He was far from perfect, but I think we turned on him more harshly than is typical for our group.
Relative to other fans and how they treat their managers, we were probably still pretty good to him, but I think by Norwich fans’ standards we let ourselves down a bit and ended up contributing to relegation that season. He was after all sacked with us out of the relegation zone...
The board were also guilty of course, their timing was terrible.
Plus Hughton did not do himself favours with the very rigid and defensive football (seeing similar comments about Sarri) though it wasn’t actually ugly football, it was just slow.

I have to say that the worst thing about his wholey justified sacking was that they let him off the hook. There was no way in hell he was turning it round, we were in an inescapable tail spin of his making. By sacking him far to late for anyone èlse to have a chance of saving us the board were crap, but in letting him off his relegation has left us this never ending and pointless debate. No amount of words will ever persuade me that he was doing anything but sleepwalking us into the most painful of relegations.
He turned the fans against him with his diabolical football. I think the Fan's were broadly patient considering the sh#t we had to watch.
Anyway for any further arguing this point we should just go back and copy and paste several weeks of arguments from back then and be done with it. There'll be new new or revelatory points I'm sure.

Hudson-Odoi can't get a start in the league or cup.
Replaceing players like Delph, who aren't playing football.
Both called up for England.
Maddison has been incredible for about a year and a half, and is the biggest chance creator in Europe. Not only does he not get the initial call up, but after all the "injuries" he doesn't even get a call up from the second wave of calls. Because these part timers have been called up.
Even an Irish player has got in ahead of him!

There was an article I think in the Guardian that highlighted the supposed excuse as being that England don’t play with a Maddison-type number 10 role. The article pointed out in his latest game, where he excelled, he played out wide...
