Particularly in 2019, a lot of build up play goes through our flanks with Trent and robbo putting in a lot of crosses.

Can we expect klopp to go in for a proper 9 this summer - someone who would thrive off that?

I don't think so.... but some form of player like aubameyang etc...

I just think we have realised these sides are sitting deep and narrow and are seeking that space wide to attack.

I just think he's more likely to but another of the type he's got already aka coyld play anyone of the front 3 roles.

Jurgen Klopp believes he does not need to spend “big money” in the summer to keep his Liverpool team on their current course of trajectory
While all of his established stars are tied to long-term contracts and many of them are either in or approaching their peak years, he considers this to be just the beginning of the journey for the club he has already transformed into domestic and European title contenders.
Having been vindicated by his decision to break transfer records in bringing Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker to Anfield across successive windows, Klopp thinks it is time to now trust his squad as he looks to push further forward
“I don’t want to talk exactly what we will do, but I don’t think this is a team at the moment where we have to spend the big money, or whatever,” he said at Melwood on Friday. “The best way to do it is bring together a group of players, try to develop them altogether and then stay together for a while. And that was maybe the main problem of Liverpool for the last decade. When they had a good team after a season they went all over the world. That will not happen this year for sure.”

that's grand til you see that he's not got a full group together yet.

goalie.. check.
defence.. mostly.. we've discussed full backs a lot.
midfield certainly short one.
attack certainly short one esp as sturridge is toast.

3 players needed no matter what klopp says publicly

Alan Shearer fears Mo Salah has been found out - and insists that is a huge title concern for Liverpool .
The Egyptian's form has been called into question by some pundits as he fails to hit the heights of his debut season at Anfield.
Despite 17 Premier League goals to his name, legendary striker Shearer thinks he is now too easy to read.
The former Newcastle and England captain says Reds fans should be worried by his recent low-key performances.
He has now fired blanks for a fifth consecutive league game for the first time since January 2016 when he was a Roma player.

Found out?

He is still getting into goal scoring positions, just being too greedy and ****e shots.

How the **** is that being found out!!!

Yep. Others aren't making him shoot at the middle of the goal, that's his own mistake.

When Mo is in that classic position to attempt the left-footed curler he has to vary his choice of shot. Keepers have started to second guess
where the ball is going so unless Mo is perfect its a relatively easy gather. Keepers might take a stride to their right and make that space smaller.
A natural enough response to one of the most dangerous strikers around. Somebody needs to tell him to occasionally pull that ball hard and low
to the keepers left, he will score more as a result.

however I just think lfc fans grossly over rate firmino cos while he had a great season last year which was better than year before, this year has been at best inconsistent

I have always thought that. He's definitely a great all-round player and we would definitely be worse off without him, but I've always felt his abilities are overrated by many fans. I think it's the tricky way he plays... His play-style is very visually appealing.

I think all rounder is an excellent way to think about the lad.

not the guy who opens the bowling or the batting but a key middle order man.

you need a strong opener. right now that's mane not salah. you need the top order bowler and that's bad the other end.

but this type.of player in the middle can be hugely dangerous. like stokes on a night out :)

Firmino is a tricky one. He’s absokutely vital to the team, but he doesn’t always look it. When he’s in form his movement and link up is excellent and he tucks away a few goals.

When not on form the game can pass him by and his touch is iffy, but in out out of form he’ll always give you 100% commitment leading the press from the front, making runs, looking for the ball, dragging defenders away.

Its why hes pretty much first pick as even when he doesn’t play well, it allows the team to still play well. Remember that this is a guy who pretty much starts every game when fit and often puts in the most yards and sprints. We really need someone to cover for him but what he offers us is unique in that unselfish way.

and won't keep that up forever.

Bobby needs to add more goals to his game if he wants to reach the next level. He is a very sexy player when it all comes off for him but far too inconsistent this year.

what I've noted from bayern game is he was heavily targeted for press when deep and he coughed up loads of possession.

i think a lot of sides might notice that and pushing right.onto him as he is quite loose with the ball.

my view on mo and firmino and mane is they all play best when close together to interplay and have a bit of space.

when we sit too deep (nerves, crap cms) we drag mane back tok far on the left and isolate the others.

we need to sit the defence higher and make the front 3 get closer to each other to link up.

We look better as a team when we are pushed further forward. This starts from the back, having matip at CB we tend to drop off, but with Joe, we played much higher knowing him or vvd would have the pace to cover back.

It's a funny thing, we don't have the individual talent in each area of the pitch, we are much more of a team. The issue with that is one change offsets the entire balance

And the reason the front 3 drop deeper is because they don’t get the ball from the midfield.
