Think PP will win but taking a punt on Shattered Love e/w at 28/1 off bottom weight think it's very well in, and the wind op will see it go very close, Jack's been quietly very confident and smug looking everytime when asked about it and is overdue a winner this week
Just been looking at the triumph. Can’t be having the jolly at the price, I don’t trust Irish form. For me Quel Destin looks like the winner. Nothing flashy about him but he looks battle hardened for this.
I was at the cocklebarrow ptp in January and witnessed Southfield theatres scintillating performance for the bradstocks. Lead from start to finish over 3m 4f so the trip won’t be any bother.
Shattered Love was just so damn good last year, a break, fresh, wind op, bottom of the weights with her allowance, i just think she'll at least place but will go very close at a juicy price, 4 times the price of ****ing Kemboy ffs who she smashed by 7 lengths
Assuming Monsiuer Lecoq is none the worse for his exertions in the Imperial Cup on Saturday then surely he must have a huge chance in the County Hurdle. He is 3lb better off as he wont be running from out of the handicap and he wont have overweight to carry. The form looks rock solid as the winner and third are very good yardsticks and he is due a 6lb hike in the weights after today. Lizzie has done well on him in the past and takes 3lb off his back. He has to go close! Or am I missing something. In the foxhunters Pacha Du Polder goes for the hat trick in what will be his last race. He has been a grand servant for the Stewart family and you can guarantee that Nicholls has only had this one thought in mind for the horse for the last 364 days.
While I’m on, my brother is in a dog syndicate with Arthur’s gifts owners. They’ve given him the nod for the midlands national on Saturday. They swerved Cheltenham for this.
Really fancy Lisnagar Oscar tomorrow, really liked the way he dug in at Chepstow and then was ultra impressive last time. Amazing price for the form hes shown. Sir Eric and Presenting Percy is my main double tomorrow. Interesting to see the Nicholls import being ahead of Quel in the market in places but think that shows that British form isn’t that great. Think Mullins will win the County (Mr Adjudicator being my first pick) and I’d love to see Not Another Muddle hack up in the Grand Annual. Throw in Top Wood/CaidDB in the and then Cartwright and the mighty Pym (trademark chuckles 2018) in the new lucky last.
It was only six days ago , how much has that effort took out and has he recovered is the question ? Their hand is kind of forced , but its fiendishly difficult for any horse to perform it's best two consecutive runs six days apart ...........
My lucky 63/scoop 6 attempt: 2:10 - Monsieur Lecoq 10/1 (5 places) 2:50 - Dickie Diver 15/2 (4 places) 3:30 - Clan Des Obeaux 9/2 (4 places) 4:10 - Stand Up And Fight 4/1 (4 places) 4:50 - Minds Eye 9/1 (4 places) 5:30 - Defi Bleu 12/1 (4 places) Also having ew single on Coastal Tiep 28/1 (5 places) in the 4:10. Done skybet first race offer on Hannon at 33/1 too. Put on Elegant Escape and Thistlecrack both ew and both 16/1 in the Gold Cup. FC/TC with CDO. Had shocking day Tuesday, ok day Wednesday, Good day Thursday. Need great day today or I'm ending the week with a loss.
He was my fancy on Saturday Stickler, I thought he ran well, and I find no faults in that reasoning as it was mine too. I did find myself wondering why Chester wasn't onboard again to gain a further weight reduction but Lizzie knows her way around! But as Rudi says, 6 days is a short recovery time, but if he HAS recovered he has an outstanding chance. Carries my coppers too
Mr Adjudicator has a decent ew chance in County Hurdle after he finished second to Espoir D'Allen in Nass in November. He also finished second to Farclas in the Triumph and Mullins has a good strike rate in this race. I've Whiskey Sour backed ante post but hey it's the County Hurdle with more plots than a bad episode of Eastenders!!
Whilst I'm pondering about the comp picks I'll have a dabble through the card and give everyone a chance to avoid these 13.30 Can't see Sir Eric getting beaten but too short so tiny ews on Tiger Tap Tap (10/1) - Gave Sir Eric a fright first time out and Ecco (80/1) Harry riding for Nichols. Thrown in the deep end on debut against the impressive Fusil Raffles 14.10 Crooks Peak ew (10/1) 14.50 Birchdale (11/2) and Dinons (12/1) Dutched 15.30 Clan Des Obeaux (11/2) 16.10 Ucello Conti (5/1) 16.50 Not Another Muddle (13/2) 17.30 Dallas Des Pictons (7/2) No value at all but struggling Have a great day all and hope you had a great Festival. It's gone so quickly
Judging by Timeform Ratings this has to be the most open Gold Cup for ages. Only 6lb between the top 10 rated and no more than 1lb gap all the way down those (2 carrying the small "p" and 2 carrying the "+") Top 10 rated
