In my opinion it’s a failure of a section of our society to encourage the role of the father in the home. Children - particularly teenage boys - need a father and role model in their lives. Otherwise they will look elsewhere for guidance (gangs). I have been lucky in life with my own sons but all parents will testify that it doesn’t happen by accident - you have to put the hard graft in with them for the first 18 years.

    100% top post.
And this aspect of fatherhood is never, ever brought up, because of the all-pervading fear that it isn't politically correct to talk about it.

Yes, Fathers For Justice changed the mood. The child support agency was demonised, and now fathers who abandon their kids get an easy ride, while the single mothers are demonised. Pi55es me off.

Must say I'm a bit surprised this evening.
Parliament voted Brexit down by only 45 votes. I expected that margin to be 300+

Seems like some MPs let their consciences get the better of them.
It is a little comforting to know that democracy in this Country was brought to a close with some restraint at least.

It's not legally binding. If for instance Italy were to veto giving the UK an extension, and Parliament remained gridlocked you could still get your no-deal B****t.

Parliament has voted against the will of the people - for the first time ever as far as I'm aware.

I would call that an unprecedented constitutional crisis.
It doesn't really matter that the vote was not binding - the 2016 referendum was not legally binding. If it was, the Courts would already have declared it null and void.

The British people legitimately voted for a course of action.
Parliament has now voted against that course of action. Therefore Parliament no longer represents the people, but has seized power for itself.

This Country is no longer a democracy.
And in 16 days time if it has not left the EU it will be under the undemocratic and illegal occupation of a foreign power.

    Not quite Lardi.

The MV will be brought back next week.

I hate the EU more than anyone on this Earth, but its time for people to face reality. This deal is the best we are going to get for now. I still believe that it will pass before 29 March. A new PM with a better skill set can then focus during the transition on improving the finer details.

The fundamental problem remains the same - a country that voted for Brexit, but a Parliament that is still 80% for Remain.

The latest news on global warming should dwarf the b****t debate, but the human race prefers to stick two fingers up to the laws of physics.

    My view on Brexit.

The Government didn't particularly care about losing the amendment yesterday as it strengthened Mrs May's hand with the ERG. She says to the ERG that if they continue to vote against her plan then they will get no Brexit at all, she says to the DUP that if there is a no deal Brexit then N. Ireland will (with zero tariffs on Irish Boarder) become one large port for EU Goods going to rest of UK while N Irish goods will have duty imposed by the EU.

I doubt if we will leave the EU on 29 March but probably something like 1 May 2019 when both the UK and the EU will pass the necessary Legislation.

Now, if we can persuade the Scots to go for Independence from the rest of the UK then <diva> good times.

According to polls, the will of the people is now to remain in the EU - or are you telling me people aren’t allowed to change their mind - surely that is the antithesis of democracy.

Blissful ignorance or a different interpretation of the facts? Should people who believe in God be treated as idiots? Should people who believe in 'String Theory' be treated as loonies? Should people who believe that the Belgian is a good owner be treated like children? …. No, everybody has a right to their own beliefs <ok>
